nice one. If you don't have a bird/family then i'd have definitely taken the travelling route. Why work your life and being a slave to the wage. Best time to travel is when you are young and not when you are old.

    Good luck with it all

Cheers mate, at 28 I feel like it's a now or never situation to do something different. My job was good to me but I lost the buzz. Working and travelling has always been on the agenda but I never got round to doing much about it, now could be it.

Go for it mate, don't put off what you can do today until tomorrow as you never know what life can throw at you. Not one minute of my life has ever been wasted travelling. Personally I think it's the best thing anybody can do as it opens you up to so many opportunities and new people.

Gore-Tex climbing shoes. They've got a flat sticky sole, so they are good for platform pedals.

<laugh> Yeah they look like bowling shoes.

But they keep my feet dry and stick to the pedals.

Find some good footpaths, bridle paths or your local park and just get on and ride fella. Low gears are for hills and going slow, go up through the gears the more speed you gain. I would recommend some padded shorts or undershorts to protect your meat and two veg. You can get cheap cycling gear in Sports Direct. <ok>

Don't be silly Fosse, how are you supposed to bowl in the mud if you're wearing wheelies ?
