Just read a rumour that we're looking at meeting a keepers release clause... €100m! #recorddefenderfee #recordkeeperfee
My fear is that VVD is the limit in terms of transfer fees we are willing to spend. The entire charade of that deal from start to finish felt like the owners didn't want to spend 70mil on one defender, but reluctantly agreed to the increased 75mil fee due to the circumstances and their trust in klopp. Its for that reason why i can't see us signing Lemar, even though he's the closest replacement to Coutinho.
Reality is nobody knows. The word was that we had £200m last summer prior to Couthino sale.....there was also rumour of massive investment from the Middle East.... It'll all wash out, I'm sure but in the meantime it makes for an interesting 12 months ahead....although there is a huge risk that expectations are raised beyond what is possible....
In the end eventually the money either has to appear on a balance sheet somehow or get spent. the 200mil to spend verses a 40mil net spend is one thing but the constant accusation is we only spend when we sell.. that has to either be borne out or disprove sometime. if we are self funding transfers then the least fsg can do it throw up the anfield road end and get on with it.
Brannigan off to Oxford in a permanent deal, the clear out begins. Now if we could just get rid of Markovic I'd be happy
No chance we'll sign a keeper in January! We've got 4 first team keepers on the books already, even if they are ****. Maybe in the summer after clearing two out...
