Good enough to remain in power until 2022, 12 consecutive years.

Obviously not a view of the electorate that keep giving the Tories the popular vote. The opposition have just suffered their third defeat in a row, whilst the Lib Dems returned to being a joke party again.

The Tories are the natural party of government.

Of course I am, which is why those that challenge the result of the referendum are rightly described as anti democratic.

So the 'Natural Party of Government' numbers only 70,000 people. Average age 60, mostly male, middle class and living in the South. One out of every thousand people in the UK. In about 10 years time they will be canvassing with the aid of walking sticks and hearing aids and in 20 ??? One of the sad facts about Britain is that we have alternating dictatorships - alternating between parties which claim absolute control based on 40% of the vote. Meaning of course that 60% are always against the government, whatever its colour - and this is democracy ? You also cannot speak of the 'whole' of Britain. The natural party of Liverpool, South Yorkshire, Manchester, Newcastle etc. is Labour. The natural party of the carrot crunchers of the home counties is the Tories. The natural party of the borders and Cornwall is the Liberals (the party of rural opposition). The natural Party of some University towns such as Brighton, Norwich, Cambridge may turn out to be the Greens. But we do have 'natural parties' for some areas - the Labour candidate for Barnsley could be a 2 headed goose and he would still be elected - the same applies for the Tory candidate for Tonbridge Wells. In some areas Labour got 70% of the vote at the last election - there are some areas where the Conservatives have had equally high figures in yesteryear. There are some constituencies which have never seen a change - are these enormous regional differences indicative of a flourishing democracy ? Where vast tracts of Britain always wake up after an election saying 'we didn't vote for that' !! There is no other country in Europe where there are such massive differences in voting behaviour as you have in the UK. There is not one area of Germany where Merkel's CDU got more than 42% of the vote last time around. The 'natural state' of Britain is not this or that government but rather a permanent state of apathy and a dislike of all government - it would have been close to civil war if we were talking about anywhere else.

The Tories are the 'natural' party of England and the UK as a whole because the electorate consistently choose it that way. It is no use quoting some obscure voting procedure used in Germany, it is not relevant to the UK. The ongoing inability of the Germans to form a government shows the weakness of that system.

The UK electorate regularly chooses the Tories as the best option to govern and shuns the alternatives. Due to the undemocratic shenanigans going on in the Labour Party I would expect this winning run to continue.

The health minister Philip Dunne has committed a gaffe while defending the government’s handling of the NHS winter crisis in the Commons when he was responding to the Commons urgent questions earlier. When Labour MP Tracy Brabin raised the issue of poorly people sleeping on the floor in A&E, he apologised for cancelled operations and said people sleeping on the floor was not acceptable but added: “There are seats available in most hospitals where beds are not available.”

What does this say about the plan that was put in place for this winter?

and of course we all know how the Tories have clung to power for centuries... the time will come when the fact that so few people actually support them will count....

Germany will take as long as it needs to in forming a government which has the support of the majority - do you see the country collapsing in the meantime ? They are not obliged to take short cuts just to satisfy international opinion. The country actually functions quite effectively without a government. The UK. electorate do not regularly choose the Tories - 35-40% of the better off do and this is, unfortunately, sufficient in Britain's antiquated system.

When I lived in Northants we had a 36 bed cottage hospital that provided non-critical care. It was closed because of a funding shortage, and the building sold off to property developers. That facility with the 36 beds has been lost and now the larger hospital in Oxon. is in danger of losing part of the buildings with those beds. Keep selling to raise funds is short sighted.

Well the last election saw the Tories vote rise to its highest percentage since 1983, this was with the care policy fiasco, imagine the blue rinse brigade voting with the Conservatives again.

The UK is quite happy with its political system thanks. Clegg's attempt to change it failed miserably. It will not be changed in our lifetime, especially with poor examples such as in Germany at the moment.

Is this our new debating theme <laugh> They certainly have all of the accessories commonly associated with Homo Sapiens - arms, legs, heads, feet etc. etc. though often in weird proportion to each other. But Human ? Maybe the mistake is in the word - should we be using a noun at all here ? It implies that you do not have to do anything to attain this state - just grow legs, arms, head, feet - and you will be a human ! We can all become humans - even Tories are capable of this.

When you look at the political map around the WFC catchment area it is only Luton that spoils a total blue area. Thankfully most Watford supporters are politically savvy.

Watford Borough Council: Lib Dems 26 seats, Labour 11 seats, Tories 0 seats.

Three Rivers District Council : Lib Dems 21 seats, Tories 15 seats, Labour 3 seats.

Not quite right there I think. Why not a single Tory in Watford?
