Look at it this way, whether you have VAR, goal line technology, head cams, ball cams, cock cams or a Wenger, nothing was going to save Arsenal from that humiliation today
It just makes me laugh that they're using a so called grudge match to trial it. Would have been better off trialling it in the West Ham game or something. I hope there's something ridiculously controversial.
You can fcuk right off, Tobias! Arsenal get trounced 4-2 by lowly Forest, and you seriously think I'm going to let that pass without ripping the piss? Just how big an idiot are you? Honestly?
Yeah it was painful to watch. Maybe they will have improved on it a bit since then. Would be better to build it into the ref's watch or get him to carry a phone sized screen. I know it's a small point, but the ref leaving the pitch to go and watch the tele for a few seconds just seemed farcical to me.
A lot of decisions are still subjective which is going to cause an issue in itself as there will still be debates over it. Also, does the ball have to be dead for the ref to use it? If so how long can they pull it back for? In that situation are any cards acquired for a foul rescinded if it's pulled back for the earlier decision? And that's just for starters... I could go on and on. Think it'll be a mess tbh. I think people should just man the **** up and accept refs are human and will make mistakes.
This why the likes of Wenger and Mourhino have to be given lengthy stadium bans. The FA has a real chance to make a statement over the Wenger incident, and they bottle it. If you think that the abuse of refs at the top level has got worse, just imagine how bad it has become lower down the ladder! ****s like Wenger and Mourhino have no idea how their disgraceful behaviour filters down and makes the lives of every ref that more difficult. I'd love for refs to go on strike, and teach these fcukers some real manners.
Yep this Aside from the myriad of logistical issues like you mention, which will cause all sorts of questions about during what passage of play does the ref assess, I just think some decisions can never be black and white. That's why it should be down to the ref to call it as he sees it. Things like goal line technology which are absolutes, either the ball crossed the line or it didn't are welcome. But the whole idea of a video assistant is going to just muddy the waters further imo.
Which is why it's utterly laughable when advocates of VAR point to goal line technology as a success and assume this will be too. Completely different kettle of fish.
@PISKIE Do you think Wenger should resign, now, as so many of your rank and file fans are demanding tonight? If so, how do you feel about hounding so many Arsenal fans off your board for trying to tell you that Wenger was finished, two years ago, and you told them they were all ****s?
Arsene Wenger's team selection for Arsenal's FA Cup third-round defeat by Nottingham Forest was "arrogant", according to former Blackburn and Chelsea striker Chris Sutton. The defending champions lost 4-2 at the City Ground to the Championship club. Wenger made nine changes from their Premier League draw with Chelsea on Wednesday. "The emphasis has to be on playing a strong side in the cup games," Sutton told BBC Radio 5 live. "You can blood couple of youngsters, but make sure you have big hitters on the bench. It is arrogance beyond belief from Arsene Wenger." (BBC)
