But it wasn't split second. He'd calmed down as Firmino ranted in Portuguese. Theoretically if a calculating person; he had time while calm to realise he was in trouble and that Firminos reaction in itself my influence the ref into sending him off. So he threw jumped up and down claiming what he did in a gamble.

I think it's ludicrous but hey these same players feign injuries, fly through the air, swear blue they didn't touch a player or ball. They are professional liars.

So, again I find it highly unlikely on gut instinct that he did this but then my gut would have also said I wouldn't believe a mixed race player from the ghettos would racially abuse another player of race in a foreign language after ranting in Portuguese.

History has forced me to believe anything is possible with footballers.

 

Then you may create the exact environment Tobes finds impossible. If Holgate goes unpunished and firmino punished even if there is no evidence of racism it's telling players of colour do what you want and your defence can be race and the authorities will shy from pursuing you.

That scenario will now be viable.

 

If Bobby is punished for anything other than racist abuse and holgate not it will do untold damage to the fight against racism, not only will it encourage false accusations but it also goes completely against any sense of natural justice that will be exploited again by those with ulterior motives.

 

But i get the feelings my that people feel this way.

 

If Holgate doesn't get punished for the shove then we will end up with the same bull as the he didn't touch him hardly not a pen crap as well.

If no racism he should get nothing but a yellow card which would be standard in any other game for his reaction.

They can not prove Holgate made it up. That's reality. The kop out would be saying the ref was going to give him a yellow before it kicked off so that's what's recorded. I think it should be a red but it's a way out that punishes both players in a way realistic to any match if racism isn't involved and neither player looks victimised.

Anything otherwise and it does open that door but as I believe the vast majority of players would find using racist insults abhorrent I also believe that the vast majority of players of colour would find making false accusations of racism abhorrent.

can i just say as an obviously physically disabled person i do find it interesting the difference in response to using racist language and disablist language - just look round this site and in society in general and it seems pretty acceptable along with more blatant discrimination in nearly all aspects of society.
