I’ve met Burns hundreds of times and he is an alright bloke. Where he goes wrong is his faux pally ‘LADS LADS LADS’ act with Swan on air which descends into unprofessionalism and just outright poor work.
Yes its just a bit of light hearted stuff ain't it. Not sure why the super serious ones on here get uptight!! I guess some of us on here are more tolerant and easy going.
If there has been a rumour being circulated, sure as eggs is eggs the Allams will have started it, so if they don't spend in the transfer window it was because they were in behind the scenes talks with this fictitious buyer.
As a local DJ, passionate and caring about local issues, local music etc., he's top notch. No question. As a football commentator, he's awful. Just because he's better than any currently employed by the BBC alternatives shouldn't matter and is no defence of him.
I didn’t listen yesterday so can’t comment on that, but I think people are also comparing him to the commercial alternative too from Viking which isn’t great either
This, 100%. I actually think he does a very good radio show. I also wouldn’t want Eddie Mair commentating on live football.
I don’t know why people keep saying this. Not one person has suggested that he and Swan aren’t better than Viking
Compared to actual football commentators they’re dog **** bad and embarrassing. What was your point? That we should just accept mediocrity?
It was merely my personal view, I have not had the opportunity to read what everybody else has written.
I've only heard Viking two or three times and it was far better. Hughes and ***an are both very good as co comms. The main one was ok when I listened but apparently there's another one who knows nowt.
Just think that the Humberside commentaries are quite acceptable and better than awful. I suppose it’s down to personal preference and certainly not worthy of falling out over.
Think there is a rule with fifa that government depts can't control football club or finance them. I remember something from a real madrid case a few years back
