    Just oneside will have to eat humble pie here.

    Either Holgate or Firminho. An FA investigation and no info on the refs report yet. Very interesting. Plus a chat with the 4th official with his mic covered.

    As I say, the stakes are high for both sides, or they should be anyway. What is infuriating is that if Bobby is 'cleared' Holgate loses nothing for making his claim anyway. And that isn't right: THAT is victim blaming AND getting away with it.

    Yeah that's weird now you mention it. If it's all supposed to be recorded (primarily to protect the officials) why on earth would they cover the mics while Talking? Especially if it's to report the accusation etc.

    Personally I thought he was covering his mouth so bench etc couldn't hear the convo but I'm sure you are right.......

    Maybe he was seeking clarification on something? Either way it doesn’t end well for one of them.

    covering mouth is regularly done by officials talking.

    I've seen it loads with linesmen.

    Imo... it's a culture thing. about the only thing I like about American football is the ref addressing the crowd with decision made.

    Same with Rugby, if the ref mics were made public during the game think footballers would cut out half the **** they spew out, knowing the whole world could hear them.

    I would Mic the ref up, nobody is going to eff and Jeff after a few games. Make it like rugby, accept the decision when the ref tells you. Plus it would have picked up what may have been said.

    totally agree. if players get a match ban for being foul mouthed on tv they'd stop pretty quick.

    Yup, always thought it was so patronising the argument that footballers couldn't control themselves enough for miked refs.

    As you say, a lot of this crap wouldn't happen. Not just bans but individual players sponsorship deals would be a risk if they effed and jeffed to millions loud and clear each week.

    Well....maybe not Rooney lol

    tried once and.tony adams was so bad it was never tried again.

    simple solution 100k fine per swear on tv per club off prize money fee.

    10x = 1mil gone.
    100x = 10mil.

    or make it a mil for 5th offense.

    Or just a 15 second delay in the broadcast to all the terrible language not to be put out on TV. Still use to fine/ban players mind.

    Just to play devils advocate here...

    firm and holgate are of similar race. Both mixed race unless someone thinks otherwise?

    definition of racism is discrimination against someone of s different race

    On a side note, I would like to see players be fined for inappropriate and offensive language in general. Nearly every game you will see or hear players swearing at other players or at the referee, nothing is done about it

    Yes. there's a whole industry out there with the likes of Peter Herbert who'd scream blue murder (no pun intended) if the evidence supports Bobby and then the FA dares discipline Holgate.

    There is no chance the FA will punish holgate if it turns out his allegation is false, you would hope the public backlash would be severe though.
