I have no long term interest in anything least of all Southampton FC so I have come to the opinion that I no longer give a **** what happens to the club. If we are in the championship next season so be it at least I will see more games and we will win a few more of them and it will be easier to get home afterwards. I don't give a **** about the premier league as being part of it we are either bound for mediocrity or a relegation fight. As our glorious chairman has said we are just a small club so no ambition or aspiration there or to put it in a nutshell we are just cannon fodder. Always remember that living your aspirations through the efforts of others will always lead to disappointment so go find an interest where it is what you do that fulfils your ambitions. Me, I am going to get out my stamp collection again and that is far more satisfying than being a Saints supporter. I can get some interesting stamps with the £1500 I currently waste on two season tickets.
That'd just about keep us up. Just about. Something obviously needs to change, but if it's not to be the manager - and that decision is out of our hands - then calling for his head and vocally ridiculing his decisions is not going to help. The players are low on confidence as it is, having the crowd jeer the manager is only going to make matters worse. Anyone else at the game notice Shane Long's reaction to the "You don't know what you're doing" chants? Don't think he was impressed, and big respect respect to him for coming over and giving his shirt to a little lad in the front row, after the final whistle. That's what football is supposed to be all about. Not constant carping and whining, and demanding (that's what grates with me, the demanding) a different result. Even when we win. Again, rant not aimed personally at you, or anyone in particular.
Loved it. So stressful, but the spirit and fight would pull something from nowhere. We defied the odds every year and some how got good at it! This doesn't feel like a relegation fight, just rele..........
I remember last game of the season, can’t remember which. Away to villa, losing but cheering away as results meant we stayed up on GD.
Always hated Christmas fixtures, trying not to bring miserable home with me. Thought we were gone on so many occasions!
I know what you mean hr. As disappointing as this season is turning out, we are not cut adrift at the bottom. We are still a win from 12th and a good result today to lift the team. We have no matty, but as per lovecolm, we need to show some of that grit we had back then.
From where I was sat today I would say at least half the away end joined in the booing and abuse chanting, it was as loud as the owts that lasted about 10 minutes continuously.
Those teams never really started stringing results together until March. Being 18th with nearly half a season left is plenty of time compared to those days
That it'd just about keep us up is a reflection of our first 22 matches, though. I'm not a fan of the booing and chanting either, but these things do happen when you're at the bottom end of the table.
There is an old saying philately will get you nowhere, but I ought to nip up in to the attic, I am sure some of my old collection may be worth more now, if they haven't rotted away or been eaten, they have been sat there over thirty years! As for MoPo2, if we are going to keep him, Mr Reed and Co. have no option but to find him the tools to do the job, failure to do that and he will go down the same track as Sparky has just done and we will spiral down the ladder. We can't influence that much ourselves but we can encourage it by being positive for once.
