Yeah, I mean of course you don’t give up on the cup or anything for that matter. It’s just that the feeling perpetuates that urgent action is needed, hence the lack of patience to sit with the immediate moment.
I fear we won’t see action. The bottom line for me is that I hope we turn a corner and quickly. With or without he manager.
I’m glad we won, I am a saints supporter. Great that JWP got a goal, if he can add a few to his game he will be a regular 1st team starter. But I’m finding it difficult to get excited about a cup run when we are only out of the relegation zone on GD.
Not the greatest game but as I said to my sister when you go away and win you can't complain too much. Not read anything yet and just going out for drinks with a girl so will catch up tomorrow. Oh and was great to see @Archers Road again... Pleasure as always fella
All agreed on that. Unfortunately on both points. I just pray we can somehow scrape enough together to survive.
I’m not convinced by MP2 and he would not have been my choice in the summer. I think he needs to grow a pair and knock some heads together. At the moment he’s too much the nice guy. He does not appear to have improved a single player and appears to rotate unnecessarily. But maybe, just maybe, there is something in what Kruger said and now we’ve got the poison out of the club he can get on with things. Get a Walcott or Dembele in and another defender -who knows. It just seems clear to me that there isn’t going to be a change in manager in the immediate future so let’s get behind the team (as most do) and try and avoid demoralising them by hurling abuse at the manager and board.
I can't enjoy a win like this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, our league position. If this was a PL game I would enjoy the win a lot more. Secondly, Pellegrino continues to show his tactical naivety with his subs. I can't shake off the feeling we're going down with him in charge. Hopefully our league form will pick up so I can enjoy the 4th round tie more but with the position we're in at the moment I'm finding it hard to enjoy a narrow win over a Championship side. Apologies if this seems overly negative but that's how I feel.
I’m not jumping up and down Tom, I just think we should at least be allowed to take some solace from the thing we’ve not done for weeks and weeks; winning. As I said, let’s get back to whinging and moaning tomorrow or decide to not bother after the Cup draw.
My rant wasn't really aimed at you tbf. I don't have you down as a bedwetter, and yes, you have been consistent about Pellegrino. And at least you do propose a realistic replacement. I think any manager would struggle with this squad though, personally. Especially with confidence so low.
From Feb on, we had 5 wins, 4 draws, and 6 losses. Which...not great considering what we were the year before. But I think we'd all bite off many hands for 19 points in 15 matches now.
I'm happy to have won, and I'm looking forward to Monday's draw. A nice L2 opponent, please. But just like you take the positives from a gutsy defeat (rather than simply focus on the negative factor of zero points), I don't see anything wrong from highlighting negatives from a victory. Especially when those negatives are similar negatives to what we've been seeing all season. Great, we've won a match. But for me, the bigger picture is those negatives. Hence the completely understandable focus on them. I'd actually be very concerned if everyone on here wasn't focusing on them. I didn't put too much focus on the final outcome/score at home to Utd this season, and I'm not going to put too much focus on the outcome/score today.
My Pellegrino bet has gone tits up now Mark Hughs is gone, he can stay as long as he likes Well done on winning today, I thought 6-4 was a fair price but not enough to tempt me.
