I think pretty much everyone agrees on the key issue, and the simplest one to solve too. I don’t think people are being fickle in the slightest. They want a new manager.

If MP was going, it would have been after the palace game.

There is not an obvious manager currently out of work to put straight in now and few managers in jobs would be unlikely to leave.

I suspect we are gambling on him keeping us up at the end of the season and then looking at Silva, dyche etc.

    It's a risk though.

I agree that would have been the expected time to remove him. But just because he's still here, doesn't mean he won't now be sacked. We still have 16 league games left; if we go worst case scenario and say that we lose one after another after another, then there is no way that he would oversee all 16 all those.

Similar situation at Stoke, with Hughes. Losing at home to Newcastle looked like the time to sack him. But just because they didn't, doesn't mean that he's safe. Indeed, after today, he's surely even closer to the sack now.

Maybe its a blessing we are away from home next week, it might well help us. Watford put out a strong team today, but seem to come through unscathed.

Aren't some of those only interested in teams likely to be competing in Europe. Are they realistic?

Except Hughes previously had stoke playing well. He has earned a bit of time. Pellegrino has been ****e since day 1. As others have said with a full squad he was useless, why would the board bother to give him expensive signings? If we are going to invest in players we need a manager who can get them playing.

I don't just want a new manager....I want a better manager. Don't believe in sacking a manager and then start looking...as some teams have done. That's the way you end up with another temporary appointment.

    Mark Hughes been sacked.

Martino is perfectly realistic. The others, I think if we loaded them up with cash (personally and to spend), one of them would come. And that’s without looking at Rowett, Jokanovic, Sousa, Pellegrini, Mancini etc etc.

The point being, to say there aren’t other options is incorrect. There are.

All of those I’ve mentioned would be monumental upgrades. (You could argue it would be hard not to be).

As they did last May. And they got one. Much as I like the idea of Tuchel, I can’t see MP2 being sacked this side of Easter. He hasn’t even had a full transfer window yet. But just as importantly, if we become a club that’s sacks managers every few months, we become far less attractive to the likes of Tuchel (who ironically is currently being linked with Sheffield We’d!)

Tuchel is massively unlikely. The others aren’t. We won’t become a club that sacks managers every few months if we appoint the right one. I never personally thought CP was right, but he was also unfairly treated. He’s the first manager we’ve sacked in years though.

Do you genuinely think MP2 is a good manager/the right manager/will steer us away from relegation? I’m genuinely interested and if so, hey, you may be right. Who knows? I cannot for the life of me see it though, and it’s been very obvious for a while.

But our league form is so poor it’s hard to see how things could get worse. I’m starting to think no manager is better than a terrible one.
    Davis for player manager?

Went to the game today and had a good day out. Fulham were great hosts but more toothless than ourselves! Deserved the win but Gabbiadini squandered a good chance and Stephens probably should have done better than hitting the bar.

Was pleasing to see how together the team looked (commiserating Stephens when he didn't score) and helping one another out. Credit to the midfield for putting in a shift today (thought Romeu and Davis were very good).

Frustrating to see us play so much football in front of the opposition like we normally do and while Fulham did throw on a lot of attacking players we did lose our shape and just about hang on in the end.

Good to see the players come and interact with the fans after the game; Pellegrino ignored them before and after (though he did, possibly harshly receive a chorus of "You don't know what you are doing" for taking Hojbjerg off). Unfortunately, his sides are still very conservative.

A manager with a record worse than poorrvleit is not the chap to steer us away from relegation.

Admittedly, I don't know that much about Martino, so will go with your better judgement, currently managing in the states, he didn't seem an obvious choice.

I like the sound of rowett or even Wagner but our appeal being a club 1 place outside relegation is not that great for a number of those names to be interested?

We have a massively underperforming squad, and money to spend. The type of character that would appeal to is probably the type of character we need.
