A well deserved win yesterday by let's not get carried away, we still have some way to go. The good bits: VvD look looked calm and in control with the ball at feet. I didn't feel like we were about to give it away easily all game VvD's leadership - he was organising all game. What a difference this will make! Robertson looked excellent at LB Firminho was very good again - what this guy does for the team is often unseen or underestimated. We looked more solid at set pieces The not so good bits: Karius Gomez was very dodgy and was got at Can stopped tracking for their goal Our midfield in general was powder puff and Missing Lallana was very rusty, despite his contribution for the penalty Mane is not clicking atm Ox was not composed and his distribution was terrible at key moments As a team we got caught on the break again for their goal One pass split our midfield and defence at one time and Everton didn't capitalise but the problems haven't gone away So a great win and we did dominate without creating a ton of chances but play like that and City will hand us a beating that we may not recover from. an entire new midfield is required for us to challenge but so is a slight change in tactics.....we cannot win anything playing as openly as we do. I don't want to go all Mourinhoesque, just don't leave our defence as exposed as we do....

Dont worry if we can sort the defence out we will have a good defence and a good attack, we can just miss out midfield altogether
So looking at our squad.... next season VVD to captain this lot? Leave it until the summer with new arrivals then make him the big bossman. We need someone vocal. Also a CB is an ideal position for a captain. Or am I just still on a VVD high from last night?
I think tad harsh on jose and sam but defo pullis I think sam and jose take into account the opposition whereas pep, and to a lesser extent wenger and klopp are quite stubborn in the way they play sometimes in some cases to detriment of the side. If i were taking a team to play liverpool i would park the bus as we all know that works well agianst us. As sam has tended to work with clubs in the lower half of the table he tends to need to resort to keep it safe at the back worry about attacking next, at bolton and blackpool some of his sides played some really exciting stuff. I have gone on record loads of times saying i believe jose is one of the greats, we just get annoyed cause he wont come and play a game against us where his team is open for us to exploit. Oddly the last game i think he could have done that and won against us but all he did was go safety first, personally i have no beef with that
I’m on the high as well. But I’ll enjoy it while it lasts because he was brilliant. Dealt with everything with such ease.
