Scoop 6/Lucky 63: 1:20 Sandown - Little Jon 2:05 Chepstow - Mysteree 2:45 Chepstow - Chef D'Oeuvre 3:00 Sandown - Houblon Des Obeaux 3:35 Sandown - Gassin Golf 3:45 Wincanton - Lagavara And also in the 3:00 Sandown singles on Gas Line Boy and Buywise, with combi fc/tc on all three i've backed in that race.
Drops Of Jupiter is interesting in the last. First time in a handicap. Richard Johnson takes the ride having been locked up on Gassin Golf earlier in the week.
Drops of Jupitor is my pick too Doa Looks to have been aimed at this one, 7-1 a decent price. The Welsh National looks tricky but not as tricky as the Vets Chase at Sanders. All the usual suspects are there and I've plumped for Cloudy Too, who has been blue across the board for the past 2 hours and looks as if there is "something going on"! As for the Welsh National I'm going with Pobbles Bay, who looks primed for a big run for Evan Williams and 16-1 is a bit tempting. Elsewhere my picks are Gino Trail and Kalashnikov at Sandown, the last named my nap of the day, Edvardo at Winc. and Flemcara at Chepstow Good luck lads
Don't ya just love the extremes of going? From the hard shoulder of Bath in high summer, to the bog and a half at Haydock after a shower! Today Sandown, Chepstow and Wincanton ALL heavy! Let's all throw the BHB, RPR and Timeform ratings out the window. I love profiling horses and their chances in each particular race. I think it becomes easier when we get the extremes of going. As we all know, some horses can handle these extremes, and have been laid out for some time for a particular race. Throw their particular preference for going into the mix and I think it gives us an edge and maybe a decent live bet. Three that catch my eye today are: Poppy Kay. 12.45 Sandown. Stable have been quiet, but that won't be for long. Likes the ground and stays. 3/1 Chef D'Oeuvre. 2.45 Chepstow. Back hurdling on a decent mark. Loves the ground and 1st time blinkers. 7/1 Clayton.3.35 Sandown. Sneaks in on a low weight after winning at Lingfield last time out. Plot? Loves the ground. 6/1 My other hits today will be : Another Venture 1.00 Chepstow. Another who will like the ground. Rhaegar.2.10 Wincanton. Possibly underestimated and might get a decent price with there being a "King" runner in the race. I love Theo's Charm, and would love to see this critter win a race for me and Oddy, but I've got a suspicion that a left handed track brings out the best of him. Firebird Flyer in the Welsh national. Stays all day this fella, goes in the ground and will be plodding on when some younger legs will have cried enough. I don't think this horse has been over raced as an 11 year old and had a bash e/way with Skybet at 33/1 as they are paying 6 places. So....now on to the NAP of the day! Presumido. 1.15 Lingfield. Watch the video of it's last race. Today Adam Kirby takes over. I think they mean business. Good luck to all who play today, and good luck to all that just like to watch!!!!
Welsh National: Ask the Weatherman 14/1 each way 5 places Milansbar 20/1 each way 4 places P.s I see there is some money about for O'Faolains Boy...class horse in the race..looks like he has changed ownership and apparently he s had some sort of operation...I wonder if the plan for him is the grand national. Anyone know? Anyhoo..good luck all...
14:05 Chepstow - Ask The Weatherman (Captain Pops beat me to it! An old adage in horseracing is "never change your mind", so I'll stick with my first fancy when taking a look at the race yesterday. It is difficult to figure-out which one of the 20-odd runners will survive this gruelling test of stamina best, but I'll stick with Jack Barber's charge. 14/1 from PP was OK for me, but just the Win only). Best of luck today!
Lol....very aptly named..not least cause of the postponement and various heavy downpours...I asked the weatherman last night who told me racing will be on!
INDIAN MONSOON 12/1 (Cork 1.55) Due to the price I've taken this each-way, expect a much improved run from this Charles Brynes horse.
Morning 3.20 Chepstow-Templehills Each Way @ 13-2 [Skybet] Like to be with Nigel Twiston-Davies horses in these heavy conditions
Afternoon my fellow forum fighters.Wild West Wind & Vintage Clouds for me in the Welsh slog.Gas Line Boy in the veterans chase in Sandown.
Sticking with my original picks Milansbar and Bishop's Road in the Welsh National, but interested by the point made about O'Faiolan's Boy higher up the thread which may yet tempt me into adding to my portfolio. Otherwise this doesn't seem a wise day for significant investment. Already had a couple go down the pan. As for the veteran's chase, a gnarled old campaigner once told me never to ignore money for a Sue Smith horse so I'm following the Cloudy Too bandwagon in what looks a hard one to call and where I'm also tempted by Double Ross. Good luck to all forum punters today.
I didn't see the race but what was wrong with Theo's Charm at Cheppers? A bit of a result actually, as had I seen it was entered I would piled in!
