WOW wonder if hes anything like that other Belgium with the de in the middle ? you know what's his name, hmm ah i know Kevin de Bruyne
Loads of fans unhappy he leaves but can understand it. Loads saying watch his free kicks as they break the net. He was player of the year when they won the league but this season they only play with 3 at the back so he hasnt played as much as he usually does, hence the only reason they are selling him. He stops, he breaks up play, he crosses well, attacks well if we have a left winger. Sounds ok
Cardiff have joined the hunt for Adam Clayton. Will Clayton improve our midfield? Do we need Clayton in our side? If he does join us, which player would be benched to make way for him?
U23 REPORT: LEEDS UNITED 2-1 BURNLEY Professional Development League Leeds United 2 (Stokes 52, Machuca 76) Burnley 1 (Aygei 62) Leeds United’s Under-23s made a winning start to 2018, thanks to goals from Eoghan Stokes and Alex Machuca at Thorp Arch. After a closely fought opening period, Mallik Wilks, who recently returned from his loan spell with Accrington Stanley, went close in the 15th minute, he tried to latch onto a long through ball forward, but Burnley goalkeeper Conor Mitusu won the race, to intercept. Burnley had a good opportunity when Tunds Bayods picked up a loose ball in the Leeds half, he looked to square the ball to Dan Ayegi, but Bailey Peacock-Farrell made a vital save. The visitors then went close from a free-kick, Rahij Nabi forced Peacock-Farrell into a decent stop from the set-piece. Leeds had the best chance of the first half, just after the 30 minute mark, Machuca got to the byline and teed up Stokes and he was only denied by a super save. Bayods then went through on goal for the Clarets, but Peacock-Farrell was aware and made a vital interception. Leeds then went close from a set-piece, Stokes delivered into the box and Wilks headed just wide. Two minutes from the break, Wilks did really well to reach the edge of the box, his cross then took a deflection and almost found the back of the net, but for the crossbar. Half Time: Leeds United 0-0 Burnley Leeds had a great chance just after the restart, Bryce Hosannah made a great run forward and he was played through on goal, but could only find the side netting. United took the lead seven minutes into the second half, Stokes picked up the ball on the right flank, superbly weaved his way into the area, through the Burnley defence, before firing home. Stokes almost doubled his tally from a free-kick, but he was denied by a good save from Mitusu. Burnley then drew level, just after the hour mark, Peacock-Farrell made a great double save to deny Tinasus Chakwana and Nfumba Hassanka, but he couldn’t prevent Aygei from scoring. Leeds almost restored the lead through Callum Nicell, he drove forward, before firing just over from the edge of the box. Burnley were then reduced to ten men, Wilks was played through on goal, but was felled on the edge of the box by Clarets goalkeeper Mitusu, who was shown red. Stokes fired the resulting free-kick just inches wide, into the side netting. The Whites took advantage of the extra man and Machuca found the net, with a fine low effort from the edge of the box, which found the bottom left corner. United then saw out seven minutes of added time, to ensure 2018 began with three points. Full Time: Leeds United 2-1 Burnley Leeds: Peacock-Farrell, Hosannah, Odour, Vieira, O’Connor, Diaz, Nicell, Machuca, Wilks, Balboa (Temenuzhkov 84), Stokes. Subs not used: Male, Casey, Kamwa, McCalmont. Venue: Thorp Arch
Laurens De Bock has agreed to join Leeds United. A fee has yet to be agreed though. There is interest from Belgian and Italian clubs, but Elland Road seems the most likely destination. 25-year-old will be available for less than the €3 million (£2.7 million) Brugge paid for him five years ago, having been used sparingly this season.
Clayton is a yes from me as he would bring experience, battle and would also make him captain. He knows how to win promotion has played prem football and is only 28. Some say hes too much like Ray Wilkins, wish we had Ray Wilkins as well then as he was quality, yes a lot of sideways play but better than pumping it upfield to nobody. Who would lose out? perm any one from 3 of our DMs Clarke goes with the first team for Sunday so expect him on the field at some stage. Well done and about time U23s as bottom of the league isnt a good look
No No No to Clayton, he is not as good as Phillips or Vieira and we already have O'Kane as back up. Some already complain that Klich cannot get a starting place ahead of our current three so what chance has Clayton got. Didn't rate him first time around, still don't rate him and not better than the two we have who are far younger
If Grot starts then TC is not taking this game seriously, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we lose, Newport have 3 new players since we played'em last. .
Grot starts, CBJ starts, Clarke on the bench according to Tommy and this is a game of opinions and so as far as Clayton is concerned Ristac is way off the mark but it seems we are at odds on everything this season One other thing was clear from Tommies presser, there are players coming in. The new big Fin is for the U23s but very obviously new signings are in process. Viera injured Dallas still too soon
For me, TC is hypercritical and not so honest in most, if not all his interviews. One of his worst, and somewhat regular statements is, "I'm happy with the performance" when clearly most, if not all fans are not, this also includes journalists who pose the question/s to him, for obvious reasons. He claims he's happy with his squad, and they all have a part to play, yet, as rumours go, he's sending players out on loan or getting rid of them...so it's bullshite. He says he wants to do well in the cup comps, yet plays a second string 11; this shows contempt for the cup comps, so does not fielding a full, if not a strong side........sorry, excuses don't cut it, and you made quite a few in your interview. He also says he wants to go as far as possible in the cup, and he takes it seriously........obviously he doesn't. TC seems to be the only one to rate Grot highly............or does he? He also says the Newport game is a chance for other non regular players to show what they can do. So what is it they're not showing when vying for a position in the first 11 every week? He says we have enough strikers, yes we do, but no one to do the job properly, and fans agree; so what is TC not seeing? We have plenty of CM's too, but he only seems to want to rotate 3 of'em, so what is it TC doesn't want to see? If TC has no say in which players come in (I don't believe it) then why does he have a say in which players he wants to leave? I was thinking about something Doc said a couple of weeks ago regarding Radz saying promotion next season, and top 6 finish this season. Why not promotion this season? Halfway through season, and I hope I'm wrong, but my head says we won't be getting promoted this season imo, unless we bring in a much better striker, and one, if not two much better CM's; it'll be "oh well, there's always next season" and disappointment and frustration yet again. TC's pre match Newport interview.
If Carlsberg did undermining, they'd do it like this........ but you'd never get a supporter running a persistent campaign of undermining with his team in 6th place, would you? Oh, wait a minute!
Morning all tricky game tomorrow Newport certainly weren't as bad as the score line suggested when we played them in the carabao cup. Think it will be a hostile atmosphere and they will be very physical.for that reason I would have only made 1 or 2 changes not wholesale like tc is inferring. Thought that frank nouble was great for them in the previous game and like someone said earlier they've added a few new players. Hope I'm wrong but it feels like Groundhog Day again 2-0 Newport
