Syd. I don't want to fight with SAFC fans! I want us to be successful! I - like many others - have bought into and hoped beyond hope that this time we would get it spot on. The supporters are a given. The tradition is a great building block. The chairman? How could anyone doubt him. Same goes with the owner.

But lets talk about the manager....

What a guy. How much spent for 10th place and no cup runs? For, what?18th place noe and out of one of the cups already?

The bank of England club of the 50's was relegated for the FIRST time in 1957. We are looking like going down again this year.

What I will say is this, Bruce should not be sacked right now, look at what he did last season if we hadn't of had all the injuries towards the end we proberly would of ended up around 8th, but what Bruce hasn't done is replaced the players he has lost in those players I include, bent, jones, Henderson, zenden and even malbranqe to the degree of we have no creativity, this season Bruce has paid a combined total of 10 million on 2 strikers who to me already don't look good enough! We could of got a proven goalscorer for that money! I'm Bruce in at the moment but please get a forward and a winger also would be lovely.

    Don't talk such ****e.

As a Newcastle fan, I'd be lying if I said I hate seeing you lose, but it's really, really, really early days yet. People do this to Newcastle all the time. We'll be losing 1 - 0 in the first game of the season and everybody will be harping on about our impending relegation and it's an absolute load of old bollocks. There are still 36 league games left, that's 108 points. Don't start writing yourselves off until Christmas. If you're in similar form then, then you can worry.

Its a sad day when the newcastle fans have to point out the obvious. Why do so many assume that just because some of us dont jump on the Bruce out it means we are happy

Swansea away. C'mon. Who says 3 points?

Chelsea home. Any takers for a glorious win?

    1 point. 4 games.

    Out of the league cup.

Davros. What I mean is I will always argue now against Bruce - I have bit my tongue before now. I feel he has let me down and will now always have a say - probably against him. What I mean is anyone sticks up for him better have their facts squared away or I will be at them like a dog at broth.

It may sound bizarre, but I hope I lose the arguments!

He has spent the lot on f*** all.

Trouble is, you can't back Quinn whilst lambasting Bruce. If you slate Bruce you are in effect questioning Quinn's judgement. After all Bruce is only here because Quinn gave him the job and up till today he is still backing him.
And so am I for that reason alone.

Syd. Quinn is a loyal man. That is why he loves us - he has no reason to except in return for how we treat him. When he was injured after 3 or 4 games, we showed patience. Quinn wants the best for SAFC, no doubting that. But hey. He thought Keane was best for us, than Sbringa, now Bruce. See where I'm coming from? Lovely chairman, Niall. Think he is a bad judge of manager, mind......

P>S> I am still here - not been burnt to a cinder for bad thoughts.

You can't imagine how much I'm enjoying this.

However I do think it's quite pathetic that you look to pick up fights and have a go at your fellow supporters just because they don't share the same opinion as yours. You do understand the point of a forum is debating and discussing your difference in opinion , right?

I'm not Syd but thanks for the reply.
I have to say your recollection of Quinn's treatment when he first signed is way off what I can remember.
    He was slated. Regularly.
Look what he became.....Could be a lessen there.

Being the same age as you bobby, I've seen my fair share of piss poor Sunderland teams over the years. I could literally count on one hand, the number of home games I've missed since 1970, and in all that time we have NEVER been established in the top flight.
Under Steve Bruce we have been steadily progressing, and I think it would be a big mistake to sack him after a couple of poor results.
Yes, he makes mistakes...but so does every manager, Yes, he makes dodgy team selections, and ultimately he will stand or fall by those selections. I'm also sure he has his own reasons for making those selections, which we don't know about.
For all his faults, he also has pluses. Some of the football we've seen under Brucie has been the best I've seen. The man is a genius in the transfer market, attracting top quality players to the club for a very small net spend.
All this anti-Bruce hysteria has stemmed from ONE game. Only a week ago we were all enthusing over the Liverpool game...and thats how quickly football can change. Theres been a massive knee-jerk reaction after the mags match and I think Brucie deserves the chance to put things right, which I'm sure he will if he gets the continued backing of the club AND the fans. Who knows, we could win our next six games and be top of the league! KTF

Caaal. Some of your points I agree with but creativity I think we have more this season.. just don't have anyone to put that ball in the net.

To start with 1 up front today was criminal. We are playing a side in the division below and play a defensive formation. Then hammer the ball long from the keeper almost every time. Pass the ball out from defence. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see when something isn't working. Change things. Christ just do your ****ing job FFS and get the team playing football.

That's a top post, Davros. I've yet to say "Bruce out", but i'm getting ever so close. You may have pulled me 'onside' with your post, but i'm not sure how many more games we give Bruce before we finally say "enough is enough". Tonight was an absolute inexplicable ****ing joke, mate, that's all we can say about it. We must go on a very strong run now if Bruce cares about saving his job. If he reads the Sunderland boards, there may already be too much water under the bridge for that! He's got to show he's created a top team from all these signings he's made. I'm not sure what state we'll be in if he hasn't created a top side.
