good luck swansea in the premiership, may your banager use the next 7 days wisely on the t/f market. wolves at home next round would be excellent. floreat salopia
To all the whingers, the last time I looked at the Premiership Table we were level on points with Arsenal. Newcastle have scored 1 goal and are 7th. It is far too early to panic. NB: Well done Shrewsbury.
Birmingham won this competition last year. Where are they playing this year? Yes - it is disappointing, but the League is the priority.
Don't worry about it lads, we've lost to Histon, Staines and Blyth Spartans in previous cups!! It happens and it will continue to happen. Norwich lost 4-0 to MK dons if that helps!
matster- Sorry that we are sounding a little bit dis respectful to your club ,im sure all jacks would agree with me that its not the intention. Not so long ago we were in the same boat as you guys so im quite embarrased by the fact that our team tonight thought they were "premier " league when in fact they have no right to behave that way ! The players should hang their heads in shame , IMO they wernt up for this at all and should be paying the travel costs of the 600 fans that came to back them! this raises more questions than it does answers , our 25 man squad should be replaced with some of your lot me thinks ,at least there would be no egos and big time charlies ! Sunderland,QPR and Norwich also lost but as far as im concerned we should not have rested anybody. we needed a win if just for confidence in front of goal , now we are taking more presure into the sunderland game . brenden ****ed up tonight , he thought he could rely on his squad but clearly he cant . get rid of deadwood !! Good luck shrews !!
strikers were useless and should have enough self creativity when they got the ball......millions wasted on mediocre players.....
Never mind guys we are all in the same boat tonight you've got to to laugh though still onwards and upwards.
Get rid of deadwood? Tell me where do you start then Norway? 21 Moreira - 3 year contract 02 Williams - 3 year contract 05 Tate - 3 year contract 34 Walsh 35 Alfei 08 Orlandi - 2 year contract 24 Allen - 3 year contract 27 Gower - 1 year contract 10 Graham - 3 year contract 18 Lita - 3 year contract 19 Moore Substitutes 01 Vorm, 03 Taylor, 04 Caulker, 07 Britton, 11 Sinclair, 26 Agustien, 14 Dobbie
I know the swans are the worlds worst when it comes to playing the under dog but the fact that is there were places up for grabs tonight and it should have been a game where we were working on releasing the strikers earlier! this was a good game to work on our link play to the striker. brenden may not be that dissapointed in the long term and most of us probably think better to be out of the cups and concentrate on the league but there was work to do tonight and things to polish up on.thats the most annoying thing for me. we are still bedding in players and we should be bending over backwards to help danny graham find his scoring touch ,this was a good game to do that . brenden learnt alot tonight i reckon and its going to give him a few head aches in the coming days IMO.
PGF, anyone panicking is indeed being a bit rash, but it's a talking point at least. I think we've already shown that unless we tinker with our game a bit, we'll almost definitely look, almost inadvertently, more like we did under Sousa. Having said that, I expect all of the players to continue to up their game and continue to get used to the pace of the Premiership. I think Joey and Nathan Dyer in particularly will come of age this season.
Well done Jacks, you finally managed to score, which 1 of your prolific Premiership strikers got the goal?
An absolute DISGRACE!!!!!! Firstly, well done, Shrews, the commentator said you deserved it and from what I heard, you did. I think this shows the strength in depth we have. None! The players out there tonight should be ashamed and I hope BR quickly abandons his nice guy approach and kicks a few arses. He can start by getting his team fit which I firmly believe they are not at the moment. Forget the ball for a while and concentrate on a lot of strength and stamina work; boy, do they need it! Well, we have kicked off our season with, if not a losing mentality, certainly a non-winning one. Hell, we didn't even score our goal tonight. On another thread, Tosh's team was being compared to this one. I opined that the 80s team was two goals better than this one. I have to revise that. I'd say 4 or 5 goals better without breaking sweat. We have become too used to weaving midfield patterns and triangles at our own pedantic pace and believing that that is good football. All well and good if the opposition are prepared to let us do it. It seems, however, that opposing teams have worked us out. We are vulnerable to pace and power and we do NOT have a midfield to cope with it. They create little and get overrun in games, particularly late on. Yes, I know that we had a "weakened" side out tonight but we did field one that should have been strong enough to win this. They didn't come close. Am I worried? Quite frankly, yes. I've been about football for many years and I am witnessing a disturbing trend that I have seen many times before. We have to snap out of it and quickly. Sunderland now takes on monumental proportions, given Chelsea and Arsenal to come. We need to win that game at all costs. I don't give a fig if we route one it either. A win is essential by whatever means and this time it would be nice if the team could manage to play for 90 minutes and not the 65 or 70 that we have seen so far. If other teams are fit enough to go the distance, why can't ours? This sounds like the panic button doesn't it? Not quite that yet but, as I said, there's a nasty sense of deja vu creeping up on me and the time for strong action is now. Not in a few games time when we have "settled in" (and it's too late) but now. Down to you, Buck.

"strikers were useless and should have enough self creativity when they got the ball......millions wasted on mediocre players....." Sorry Dai, I'm not sticking up for our strikers, but when you've got such a 'lightweight midfield', how can they create if they don't have the ball enough!! Yes, DG had a couple of chances he supposedly should have scored, but the number of times Orlandi & Gower gave the ball away when under no pressure was shocking. These guy's obviously can't be relied on to step-in when required, this was their chance to get some game time & do their bit for the squad. As I said, can't be relied on.....
jager- it was more ment in anger than anything else!! i didnt think we had much deadwood left TBH , but after tonight.... Its not a major problem to go out but it is a problem when our players dont compete and dont create against a team like shrewsbury. if the players were feeling like a night off then fine but that tells you more about their mentality than anything else . i dont think rodgers wanted his fringe players to get over turned tonight thats for sure . its very disapointing and raises more questions about our squad IMO. maybe just an off night , win against sunderland and i will be happy again !
Well done Jacks, you finally managed to score, which 1 of your prolific Premiership strikers got the goal? exactly bluebird but hey some will still say we have to give them time.....shocking play and a total waste of money....and as dannyboy was again our main striker i am waiting to see what excuses he will get tonight.... thats what you get for paying well over the top for a unproven striker..
So virulent, you posted it twice! Strong words, Ivor, but hard to disagree with. Decent shout about the fitness. It is worrying, do you think we're paying the price for sticking with locals as coaches as opposed to bringing in top conditioning teams etc? I still think once they put a few passes together and it ends up in a goal, that'll give the team the confidence that it's possible to play football and score goals, as opposed to the one or the other we seem to have at the moment!* *disclaimer: that was tongue in cheek. so shoot me.
Think your being a tad harsh on Graham TBH, you've only played 3 games so far. I do think you made a mistake in relying on an unproven player (at Prem level) being your main attaking threat in the Prem As a Cardiff fan though, I take great pleasure hearing that you got rolled over by a L2 outfit. Hopefully some of your fans can eat their ''We Are Premier League'' with a nice slice of humble pie and reflect on their arrogance
4 premier league teams went out tonight, including our next opponents , sorry but this is a mickey mouse cup that teams and players don't want to give it their all, if they reach the final with playing a second string team all the way through fair enough! This is one less headache out of the way, only the fa cup headache to go, the major headache is the league, always will be, and that is the way it always should be!

Look forward to what you have to say when DG does score. Give the guy a break!! Think it was more pertinent to vent some frustration/dissapointment at our 'limp' midfield tonight!! Well at least they've made the mind up of some uneasy decisions up Brendan might have been pondering over!!
