So I'm thinking that Wenger will go all out before the end of the transfer window, assuming we progress in the CL. I think he will buy: Zarate - apparently the Lazio president has said he wants to leave and we have been linked with him. can play as striker or on the wing. we might move back to 442 if he comes. Cost: £15m Hazard - although Lille say they won't sell him, if we offer enough money, they will basically be forced to sell due to their lower income in the french league. Cost: £26m Parker - a very good squad player with experience, grit, determination and a huge work ethic. wenger says he's going to strengthen the midfield, and i think he means with hazard and parker. Cost: £8m Dann - a good, tall, british CB who would add a lot to the squad, because he can deal with aerial threats and would compliment Vermaelen better than Koscielny, and is better than Djourou Cost: £7m Total cost: £56m That money can come alone from Cesc and Nasri deals, plus we have more money in the bank from previous seasons transfer budget. Team 1: --------------Szczesny------------ --Sagna--Dann--Vermaelen--Gibbs-- --------Wilshere----Song---------- -Gervinho------Hazard------Zarate- ---------------v.Persie------------ Team 2: -----------------Fabianski--------------- --Jenkinson--Koscielny--Djourou--Traore-- ----------Ramsey-------Frimpong-------- -Walcott--------Rosicky--------Arshavin- -----------------Chamakh--------------- Other players: Mannone, Miquel, Eastmond, Lansbury, Diaby, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Miyaichi, Campbell (subject to work permit) Also Bendtner, Squillaci and Almunia if they stay. I would say that that team would be good enough to definitely stay in the top 4 and probably challenge for the title. Only problem is that I doubt we will buy those players at all...
Agree would be nice. Still think we lack goals. Hazard, parker and damn will not help that. We need a striker as well. I don't think we are signing anyone though. Big worry is the weekend. No jack now, selling lansbury that leaves us with a midfield of Ramsay and rosicky. I have to ask how has it come to that? Is it even worth travelling up with that? 3 games in 1 point. Let's just hope somehow we can beat Swansea.
we aint sold lansbury and theres no mention of us waiting for a permit for campbell must of already got it
i know, he's in the list of "other players" not first or second team, but squad players for when the injuried hit
£26m in one player is not Wengers style and the noises coming out of Lille aren't positive for a move on Hazard. As soon as AW picks up the phone the price tag goes through the roof, I'm not expecting more than 2 more to come in
Why do you want to play 4-4-2? Look at the england team for an example of why it's an outdated and irrelevant strategy. 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 is the way to go.
Yeah but the champions of this country also play 4-4-2/4-4-1-1. Our system worked because of Fabrgeas. He was the creative force that made up for the fact we only had one CF in Van Persie. Without him we have 3 players in the middle that are not really very creative also even worse now without Wilshere. If we go 4-4-2 and get another forward then you can drop Van Persie back and play him as a number 10 like Rooney does for United. Also why not give Walcott the chance to play upfront with Van Persie behind him? Anything is better then have 3 non-creative midfielders like we do now.
If wenger thought that theo would make a good striker, he would have played him there by now. Obviously theo isn't cut out to be a striker.
If not Walcott, then you can play Arshavin off Van Persie. Or buy someone like Zarate and play Van Persie off him.
I consider Zarate overrated. I've seen him a couple of times, and he doesn't impress me. Hazard does, zarate doesn't.
We'll see who is brought in over this coming week. Remember Ryo has not played for the first team yet and if his ' Ryodinho ' tag is anything to go by and indeed merited, then we could have a potential match winner on our hands. I think the new additions to our team will start to prove themselves over the next month and if we can take each game as it comes, make no slip-ups as we did last year, the points will keep adding up. There now, don't I sound much more positive than even when I placed that optimistic signature for GoonerC I think we could surprise quite a few people if we bring on just the right ' staff ' before next Thursday.
For the new "staff" how about some better physio's. Don't want to be losing wilshere for a long period of time, it's going to hurt us.
Yes we should investigate that department too and perhaps bring Steve Bould in as the first team coach. Can't see this happening unless Pat Rice asks to go again but here's hoping.
I dont think we can afford any new signings of the stature you suggest. We can't pay them the wages they will demand. It will continue to be young players with potential. Wenger knows that he needs experience but he also knows he can't afford it. Given that this is the only strategy open to us, he is still the best available at buying and bringing through new talent.
Don't want Parker or Dann - they are not as good as what we have currently and would only come in as back-up. And for the price they would cost they are not worth it. Hazard is well worth a go. I think we may well sign Hazard but not sure if it will be this season or next. Zarate i like but i think other players are more important to get in than a striker - think we may be suprised by Campbell. Wouldn't say no to this signing though. Ideally i'd like to see: Vertonghen, Kaka, Hazard comming in and if we have space for another signing then chuck in a striker - Zarate, Benzema or any other player who could push for a first team spot and give RVP a bit of competition. Please, please, please though can everyone stop calling for us to sign average players. With teh squad as it is and the cash available to us at the moment we should be looking at bringing in top class players to comete for the first team, not back-up players to replace squillaci.
