I've been once (I think, would have to check) this season CH, and share exactly the same emotions as you. Used to be even more eagerly anticipated under the floodlights at Boothferry and to a lesser extent the KC, before they started flashing them on / off etc.

But once inside and the game got going, it was painful. A 'why am I here?'. A feeling of general discontent, with no sort of gallows humour that there was (for example) in Kempton when we were truly ****. Over the years less and less mates go and have fallen away. Do you still go in a group (if you did previously ... has your group stayed loyal?).

Then trundling away through West Park afterwards just feels one of general dissatisfaction, a menacing dark cloud hanging over the club.

Maybe it's because I've done it for over 50 odd years that there is still that flicker of hope / love, but in my case its ever diminishing. Can't really see how it will change.

Interested to know what you feel during games / afterwards / generally.

I'm not as old as you by the sounds of it - first game was 1974.

I've only ever gone to City with family. First my Dad, then Father-in-Law and now I take my younger son.

Whilst I still get the buzz pre-game, the result now is much less important. Don't know if it's an age thing and realising that some things
in life are just far more important than a football game ! I didn't feel that way 10+ years ago, a bad result would ruin the weekend definitely.

    Hey-ho !

Hope you’re right Obi, although I struggle to come to a similar conclusion about Ehab

It’s the splitting up of groups of friends that has a much bigger impact than people not affected realise
There used to be 5 of us with season tickets together from KC opening (used to go together at Fer Ark too) and one other who joined us too, and we used to see other groups in pub before every game too, as well as people who you knew from around you at every game for years, some by name some just by face
    It’s a community
The East Stand evictions put an end to that
There’s now 2 of us go, we see none of the old groups beforehand and we’re probably only just getting to know a few faces around us, but many have changed each season anyway

Absolutely spot on regards it been a community , before being evicted from the upper west there was a group of 12 of us that sat together, after eviction we're down to 8 a 33% loss of support.

Yep aside from my earlier posts, this is the other main factor I have in not going anymore. For years and years it was just my Dad and myself, but his sudden untimely passing in September 2013 horribly coincided with Allams' first name change announcement, which I recall was only 3-4 weeks earlier. We did get to know a few in West Lower over the years but it also became impossible to buy single match tickets there for some time too. Therefore, with no children of my own to nurture I was left as the only City fan I know in the 'real world'.

I did briefly contemplate seeing if anyone on here was in a similar situation and wanted to meet match-days but as I mentioned earlier I cannot be arsed anymore. My girlfriend and I are having far more fun enjoying carefree relaxed weekends nowadays. The only real reason I have to get to the KCOM now is to see my Dad's memorial plaque outside W4 - can't help but wonder what he'd have thought of the **** over the last 4½ years.

Yes but does he realise his own Dad has stopped going since he got rid of concessions and I can't see him going again until they are re introduced.

Head and heart for me, head says no to staying up, we just don't have the guile, nous or experience for a relegation basement battle when against seasoned battlers, the likes of Sunderland. We've lost our bottle/nerves in too many games in the last 10/15 mins without too much pressure, and now pressure will get ramped up. I hope I'm wrong!

Heart says yes to staying up, only for us long suffering City fans, surely we deserve it, why can't it be us who can have a resurgent run for a change, not for the Allams who I'm sure won't give a jot, they will have their parachute payments wherever we end up.

Assem Allam said he wanted nothing to do with the club after the second name change rejection. He's now attending meetings with the Supporters' representatives. Including the Trust.

Assem Allam allegedly told the last meeting that a frim of accountants will be running Hull City from the end of the season. Presumably Ehab will go back to selling generators.

Ehab likes running Hull City. Why would he give up the change of owning a Premier League football club just to put us into the 3rd division?

At the start of this season we had £100 million to spend over the next two years. More than enough to get us promoted again, especially given the poor quality of the opposition we have seen at the Kcom. We now have a manager that would spend that money wisely and build a football team without breaking the bank. Something we haven't really had since Nigel Pearson. However spending the money isn't down to Ehab but his Dad.

If Ehab was on the same page has his Dad then there would be no need to talk to the supporters, the falling crowds would be of no consequence, they'd continue banking the cash in Allamhouse whilst waiting for the debt is paid before selling.

I think you've said you've met him, do you really think he'd be happy in the 3rd division? We know he's happy owning a Premier League team.

You wouldn't think, judging by his actions, that he is happy owning Premier League team (which we don't resemble in any way currently). There is nothing that he is doing that would suggest he is trying to get us back to the Premier League.

If those who have met him are of the opinion that he does like it, then it's horrifyingly embarrassing the cock up he is making of trying.

And as far as dad goes, well he controls the purse strings that's clear and he's not spending more. The firm of accountants .... he's track record is littered with threats, promises and bold statements that he doesn't fulfil.

    ^^^^^ Exactly this.
Our group has gone from five to none for the last couple of years.
Two of us have gone back this season, and we count up to 38 minutes as this is the trigger when our blessed eyes are given a break from the **** on the pitch and we can go to the bar. Kingston Press cider is a welcome addition to the half time "fun".

I agree with you that you can easily read into Assem’s actions that he is worried about Ehab running the show
I still think he met supporters originally to stem any protests when Mrs Queenie came to town (and in hindsight to hopefully make sure people weren’t put off giving him a gong) We’ll see where the meetings develop of course but I’m not hopeful of any real progress to be honest
I have met them both. I don’t think they’d want to own a 3rd Division team, particularly not Ehab, but I expect them to walk / give the Club away just as soon as they calculate they’ve got their investment back

As I say that’s not based on any evidence, and you could well be right instead

I think in some ways they are naive and in others useless. I think Ehab is finally realising the damage done over the past few years and knows what needs to be done to put it right. After all its fairly obvious. 3 or 4 signings in the early part of the window, enough money in the kitty to mount a serious challenge next year, get the supporters onside and sort out a decent relationship with the Council.

With £60 million Assem can spread his largesse all over Hull and the East Riding, it may help him finally get a gong.

If that were the case then the obvious thing for Boy Wonder to do would be make a public show of backing Adkins with that cash but he hasn't, how come you've had the wool pulled when everyone else and his dog knows Adkins is on a promise to keep his mouth shut whilst trying to keep us in the Championship on a shoestring budget all in the name of ROI.

They have been to the PL done that and bought the T-shirt, they've no further desire for it

Sorry but please wake up and smell the coffee

Define shoestring budget in relation to the rest of the championship .
