If it’s the “fan’s fault” that Duchatelet has run the Club like a Belgian flea circus, who was it who once claimed that Simon Makienok was a better striker than Yann Kermorgant ? Or that Lily Thurman was a better keeper than Ben Hamer. Both well BEFORE any fan’s protests.
Especially when RD made it obvious he wasn't backing him after the lack of 'striker signings in the summer. You're right, he's got to be a complete mug if he believes anything RD says
Robinson repeatedly said he had been assured he would be backed in January if we were in the promotion spots. We are a pathetic 9th. The conversation therefore was always a predictable one.
If you read posts from those who say it's the 'fans fault', it's obvious that these fans have no real ambition for the Club..? All they go on about is...Personal matchday rituals, personal experience with Club officials, and the orgasmic fact that RD pays the bills. Perhaps they're right, it might be the rest of us who are at fault for not seeing what's important.
So true. Take the Global Moderator of ITTV- who claims to have sat in the Directors Box at the personal invitation of Murray, and who also claims to have received a personal e mail from Meire on her last day. The Global Apologist is now seriously claiming that we would have signed players in January had Meire still been here and that fans “forced her out”. I bet most fans would love to be forced out of one job into another with a £100,000 plus salary.
Murray must have been honoured to have a Global Moderator beside him, especially one who takes himself so seriously.
If some Charlton fans wish to blame Roland Duchatelet's decision to sell the Club now on pressure from CARD and other protesting fans, they should back up those claims with some evidence. There has been no protesting this season. There has been no negative chanting within the Valley, only positive support. Even at away games I hear the Charlton fans have been much less negative than they used to be. The only thing CARD has done this season is hand out some red & white rosettes at the 25th anniversary match against Portsmouth. The fans backed our team 100% during the match. If Charlton fans who are blaming protesters for the current mess at the Club cannot provide evidence, their opinions can naturally be ignored - however often they repeat them.
Here some others KR will not be getting.... Bury sign striker James Hanson and defender Peter Clarke on loan deals Portsmouth: Wolves duo Connor Ronan and Sylvain Deslandes join on loan
Worrying times IMO. The squad as it is won't make the end of the season - a couple of sales on top of that then it could turn in to a disaster. I don't foresee relegation.. only our worst ever season. No biggie.
It looks as though Roland thinks he can have the last laugh by delaying the sale beyond the transfer window, which will scupper any chance of promotion. Don't worry, Roland, you won't. After you've gone Charlton will rise again and you will be nothing more than a stinking rotten memory. Since I was told in the summer that Roland was talking to 3 parties with a view to sell, the only explanation for the delay that I can see is that he wants a bidding war, which will drag out the sale to the detriment of the club. His sole interest is to get as much as he can, does not give a flying fart for our club.
My predictions - 1) We will not sign any more players this January 2) We will sell between 2 & 4 players 3) The Manager will resign on 1 Feb (may be mutual termination?) saying he feels betrayed 4) Bowyer & Euell to be appointed temp joint Managers till end of season 5) Charlton to finish lower mid table 6) Club sold in June
My further prediction- We will start getting our motley collection of sicknotes & Lord Lucans back from March onwards. Reeves will suffer a career threatening injury after rashly opening another can of Fosters at training. We will finish the season with a glorious 8 game unbeaten run which sees us finish a noble 9th. Motherhood & apple pie will be promised to our 4,000 remaining fans for next season
It now seems to be an accepted fact that had Duchatelet not bought Charlton Athletic when he did, the Club would gave gone into administration, received a big points deduction and been relegated at the end of the 2013-14 season. However, a growing number of Charlton fans may now be of the opinion that here and now (four years later) CAFC would probably be in a better state, after having gone through that harrowing process, than the state we actually are still in after four years of suffering the ill-conceived policies of the Duchatelet regime and the incompetence of his hated CEO. Personally I'm not sure about that. Since nobody knows what would have happened in an alternative history where Duchatelet never bought the Club, it is a difficult case to make other than on a purely emotive level. Administration could have led to the Club being wound up. And even if somebody else had stepped in, they might have been a hedge fund or another breed of asset-stripper. Perhaps we would have lost the Valley again. Perhaps not. The simple truth is, nobody can say. But one thing I am sure of is that these last four years have been wasted ones, and that the net effect of Duchatelet's ownership of Charlton Athletic has been profoundly damaging. The evidence for this is all around any fan who still goes to the Valley for home matches as I do. All the online spin-doctoring and superficial gimmicks in the world cannot hope to hide the ugly truth. Charlton Athletic Football Club is on its knees. And the responsibility for that lies with the man who has had 100% control of its destiny since January 2014: Roland Duchatelet.
Put simply, Duchatelet rescued Charlton when the patient was on life support - and then spent the next 4 years stamping on its head.
These same fans said the protestors didn't bother Duchatelet and would have no impact on him selling - It was only a few weeks back when they kept saying he was "not selling". "Signed players in January had Meire still been here" Sure they would, just like they did in all the previous transfer windows when they sold talent and replaced it with cheap loans. #fansfault
Well said, the main reason for the delay was the ridiculous 50m he was asking for. Thankfully he has now lowered his price. He is like a bad smell that lingers.
After watching Robinson's press conference, I have never seen a Manager more frustrated and depressed. How is he going to lift the players on Saturday? https://www.cafc.co.uk/valley-pass/video-player?widgets[stream-amg][content_id]=0_kuma1tte
