3:10 Newcastle Zabeel Star 5/2. Should be winning this race, dropped in class and maybe back to a preferred distance after last time out. 5/2 not much of a price but would ecpect shorter tomorrow.
Thoughts on the bumper tomorrow once- the Henderson horse surely way too short the Rebecca Curtis runner looks very interesting yard very good at bumpers especially close to her too - strong P2P and then sold pretty much straight after I wouldn’t have had him bigger really than 2/1 so the 5/2 9/4 should be abit of value then
I had a really good look at the race (of course). Henderson is 0/8 at the track with bumpers and although it was an expensive purchase it isn't particularly well bred. My next port of call was the Curtis runner but its Irish p2p is looking decidedly weak with at least one of the principals coming over here and being a total dud. Gun to the head I would be having a bet on the McCain horse but I am happy to let this one be a watching brief.
Simonia didn’t oblige yesterday for the dear old regular readers but the future looks bright re this one, team. A very respectable debut saw her finish a 2 length runner-up (may have been closer if the de Boinville boy hadn’t dropped his ‘attitude adjuster’ a quarter of a mile from home) and I would now imagine Lieutenant Henderson, back at 'The Barrows' will employ a combination of his ‘magic hands’ and a few soothing words before winning a Bumper with her. Then I would imagine it will be a step up into Listed or Graded company. Let’s hope the old girl can secure some black type before going over timber next term.
Shame the Bex Curtis animal isn’t going in the ‘lucky last’ at Bangor as that really would have been a bumpy bumper to savour and probably would have resulted in 1 or maybe 2 bubbles being well and truly burst. Her charge cost £135,000, ‘Mullers’ Mulholland’s €75,000 and Lieutenant Henderson's was a €55,000 purchase. The latter is sure to be popular on the forum, incidentally, as not only is it trained by the forum’s favourite Lieutenant and trainer but it’s also owned by the 11th richest man in Wales and the forum’s 7th favourite owner – my sources incidentally tell me old boy Dai is just as proud of the latter ranking as the former one. Won’t be backing it but am looking forward to the debut of Before Midnight given his connections. This one lineage ain’t too bad Stick, me old love, by the way, as the maternal granddam is none other than Lady Rebecca.
2 for me today - 1.15 Bangor- Oneida Tribe- 3/1 Some guy at work has apparently had a tip for this one - so wait and see 6.45 Chelmsford- Bold Prediction- 9/2 Not just a bold prediction but has won off a 7lb higher mark goes well fresh and Kirby on board everything points to a big run
By the way, on strike rate in bumpers this current season Mr Henderson is sitting a very lowly tenth! Not good by his standards. I would wager nobody on here could tell me the top three and get two correct! Statistics based on trainers who have had two or more winners in this sphere.
Must be a trick question as you'd think Fergal O'Brien ought to be in there? What about Hughie Morrison? I know Greatrex isn't doing as well as you would normally expect. Nicky Richard perhaps? I'm going to have to go and look now .........
You will know them but you probably would not associate them with bumper winners! YOU OddDog will kick yourself for not getting one of the three!
Donald McCain Paul Nicholls Phillip Hobbs I'm just guessing now, completely stumped .................
