The side who beat us yesterday, they didn't dither. It took them all of four games to make a change. Ruthless? Yes. Bad PR? Yes. But no-one is mentioning that now, and they still won't be if Palace stay up. The Palace chairman made a bad decision. Wanted his side to go from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds; wanted his side to run before they could walk. Going from Sam straight to De Boer was never going to work. But mistakes happen, and Parish sure as hell acted quickly to rectify things.
I could only dream about Saints overspending Someone has the opportunity to insert a Redmond joke here, but Shane Long was the last player that we purchased and I thought we had overpaid, but personally other than an observation I don’t get too hung up on the money aspect. I do like to see the club re-investing in the squad mind
Not my post to explain but I think that side of it is about a longer term strategy - making a point to Liverpool and similar clubs that they can't simply tap up our players in the hope that they can then sign them for lower fees. Being prepared to accept slightly poorer results in the short term in order to (hopefully) end up in a better position longer term.
Might be getting into Alex Jones territory here but I've had a thought. Maybe Krueger knows his head is on the line and he's at risk of being fired. He gave the interview backing MP because he knows he won't have to be the man to fire him because he's gone at the same time, if not before.
Random question. Do we as fans have a supporters trust to speak of at all? I'm sure there must of been something pre-09 but I was too young really to take note of things like and that, and obviously we haven't really needed one under Liebherr ownership as the club has generally been so well run. But now with the uncertainty around the Gao takeover and what his intentions are etc. if one doesn't exist does anyone else think it would be a good idea to have one to question the ownership and make him accountable to us as supporters? Just musing a bit really but an interesting topic imo.
I think that was part of the subtext. That plus the fact he’s been absent for long periods makes me think he’s happy to fall on his sword.
It is worrying. Not only are we in a bad patch we also have a bad pitch. I can't remember St Mary's looking that bad. What is going on?
Oh I dunno about personally setting up one up, I'm not great with all this organisation stuff It's just something I've wondered about for a while now and was just curious on others thoughts of that post. I will look into whether or not one exists though. I'd have probably got more responses had I not stuck it in here tbh.
From what (admittedly little) I've seen of MLS, the coaching standard is woeful. As in, atrocious. Alright, I only went to one game (New York derby at Yankee Stadium) last season, but both sides looked like they hadn't been coached at all. Bradley Wright-Phillips got a hat-trick though
