I know we all have our moments, but their community myopia over last night's events take it to another level.....
I think it's because a number of them were at the game and have only seen the highlights since. The supposed diving incidents didn't feature at all, which should probably give a bit of a hint. Others just see what they want to see, of course.
But what then determines if a player is top four/ six worthy if there's currently not enough guys better than him in the division? We know he's not at the level Walker and Azpi are but then 98% of FBs across Europe, let alone the Prem, won't be either. Surely the fact that Tripps is likely around fourth or fifth best in the division indicates one of two things: A) He's a lot better than he's credited for. B) There aren't enough top class FBs in Walker's/ Azpi's league around, which essentially means we have "the next best thing". I think maybe part of the problem is that because Tripps isn't of Walker's overall level, that some automatically think he's not good enough. Which for me is harsh because Walker became one of the best FBs on the planet under Poch and therefore we were treated to seeing a world class RB for about two-three seasons, that's why City had to pay an astronomical fee for him. Hopefully in the long run we've replaced him adequately enough with Aurier, who's pedigree certainly suggests he can match Walker but in the meantime we've also got a guy who I feel is a very decent player in his own right, fighting and pushing Aurier in that RB role, just like he did with Walker. If/ when Aurier does make the spot his own, you won't get many - if any - better players to back him up than Trippier and if I'm honest, I wouldn't then blame him if he looked for a move elsewhere because he's good enough to start for most sides in my opinion.
