Cheers, Laces. My Dad passed away a month ago, all the more of a shock because he was due to go in to hospital on the next day. Although he had been a Saints fan for over 60 years, he didn't renew the season ticket in 2016/17. I think he would be shocked at what has been dished up over the last few months.
Agh, that's awful. My dad went 17 years back at the age of 60. It's a very uncomfortable time, no matter how long they've been around. I'm sure you've been on nodding terms with deaths before, but all I can say is that that pain gets softer. Good luck to you Ian.
Very sorry to hear that, Ian. My father went very suddenly just over 5 years ago and it took a long time to get over it. It’s a **** time and I genuinely feel for you and your family.
Sorry to hear that Ian. My Mother passed unexpectedly 10 years ago, and to be fair I have still not got over the knock on my door at 8am on a Sunday from my brother and father with the news. All I can say is the loss is always there, but it gets better.
Been the best part of 24 hours, and I still can't muster the energy to type a proper post. Just so deflated. I'm struggling to think just how bad MP needs to perform to get sacked.
Ian We have often not seen eye to eye, but sorry to hear you had some issues ( I had noted you your absence). Sorry to read about your loss. Sad times. Good luck.
Exactly. Silly disagreements about a bit of cow getting kicked around are precisely that, silly, in the grand scheme of things.
Exactly. Never any I’ll intent to anyone and never like to hear of such sad news. Losing loved ones puts everything into perspective
I don’t know what a “grande room” scheme of things is though, or why my autocorrect would want to say it. Mind you, it did just try and change ‘is’ to ‘Osvaldo’.
Of course it will be close and unpleasant until the end. Our team sucks and is near the bottom. That's a sunk cost. We have 20 points out of 22 games. How many points realistically do you think we can get from the next 16? You want 45 points to be safe? Find me 8 wins and a draw out of our next 16 matches. BTW, we have 21 goals in 22 games and Austin scored 6 of them. We also have a total of 4 wins. What on Earth makes you think we're suddenly going to perform like a top 8 side and win half our remaining matches? Look at the team.
There is really no fixed target we have to achieve to stay up....we just have to do the same or better than 3 teams below us. I can see Stoke dropping down as well. For the first time since we came back up I can see us being relegated because we have no idea what we are doing....however we have to hang onto the fact that half a dozen teams are also at risk.
Again, the problem is that your plan is hopelessly unrealistic. We are simply not going to lose a mere 4 games over the last 16. Seeking to grind out draws at every turn is going to instead result in us having for a second half what West Brom has had for a first half, and likely with similar results.
40 points always used to be the benchmark for safety. With the majority of the league being utterly pants once again this season, it will be lower than that. 34 points and -42 GD would have been enough for 17th last season. Your point still stands, it's difficult to see where we are going to scrape together enough points. But at least we don't quite need to hit the heady heights of 45 points!
Couldn't agree more, it's wins that are going to keep us up now. I'd be targetting 6 wins from: Watford (A) Brighton (H) WBA (A) Stoke (H) Swansea (A) West Ham (A) Newcastle (A) Bournemouth (H) Win 6 of those and we stay up.
