After a brief time of updating, Hawthorn Ave, new garden walls on Anlaby Rd, Alliance/Del la Pole Ave, I think that Anlaby Rd has now been abandoned, although to be fair building has restarted in Hawthorn Ave. The former Cecil St and Rhodes St have risen from the ashes but the former Greek St/Clyde St is still a barren waste. The old Eagle Pub on the corner of Coltman St has lain derelict for goodness knows how long, an eyesore that was in the process of being refurbished, but then just abandoned, no idea why. A lovely sight for people making their way to the KC, not.

True, but maybe we should, to give those girls a chance of a bit of support, thank goodness it isn't my daughter, it may be the oldest profession in the world but that doesn't make it any the less awful for those involved. Yes some are there by choice maybe, and from what I have read there are those who live a life of luxury at the higher end of the trade, but still, the day by day girls need some help.
Not keen on the use of those green bricks though OLM but the character of the area has changed as you cross over the railway crossing. The new housing on Hawthorn Ave and Woodcock St upgrades the area a little despite the old Shiphams factory. Ringrose St has new housing that gives it a totally different perspective from when I was at Wheeler St school. Back then there was a Hull Corporation deppo and Ostlers bakery, plus a train going by every now and again at the bottom of Ringrose St.
West Hull, East Hull, North Hull, I helped build some of the estates in all these areas so I used to be familiar with much of what was happening as regards to the changing landscape. But now I don't get around nearly as much, even though I cycle a lot it is now usually in decent weather. So there is obviously things happening in Hull and the surrounding area that I know nothing about. Kingswood is a place that comes to mind, it is like a town centre outside of the town so to speak, people of that area really don't need to venture into the city centre and that is bringing its own problems, to the city centre mainly. What with the supposed rise in online shopping I'm surprised that places like Kingswood, ok you can include others like St Andrews Quay, Willerby, not to mention Beverley, still seem to expand, and by all accounts prosper, Hull City center has a hard sell to compete, I wish them well.
Kingswood extension appeal dismissed - 21/12/17 The Planning Inspectorate today published its report and appeal decision regarding the land at Ashcombe Road and Barnes Way, Kingswood. Hull City Council’s Planning Committee has twice rejected applications for extension to the shops at Kingswood.
