Because they no longer trust him with transfers?

That's the question I posed! Edwards doesn't look to be trusted with big money moves after being frozen out of the VVD deal which doesn't look good for him.

IF Coutinho is sold now and goes to Barca now, it's a bad move footballing wise meaning Klopp clearly has had no say in the transfer. Especially so since he won't want a replacement now as there's no time or pre season to bed them into the squad. It would be a disaster for our league and CL performances.

IF Coutinho is agreed now, but moves in the summer, then it's what's expected - he'll carry us through to the summer and then be on his merry way/

Obviously, because he's been terrible at it so far.

Like he negotiates the fee. <doh>

    Nice try.

What fee did he negotiate, the one Southampton laughed at or the one you paid?

Perhaps I misunderstood you. Apologies if true.
I thought you were saying that this means that Coutinho may be sold by them regardless of Klopp's wishes, and without his even being made aware of it.
It's a bit of an indictment of Edwards if they take over negotiations, but it doesn't mean Klopp isn't consulted - or at least informed of - their intentions over transfers both in and out. Of course it seems inevitable that Coutinho is going, but I'm sure Klopp is expecting that, and will know about the progress of the negotiations.

Neither - that's not his job.
I thought the <doh> made the sarcasm obvious.

Anyway, this is all so bloody tedious.
We've read, dissected and discussed all of this in almost exactly the same way all summer and now we're dragged through it again.
All the "news" and rumours and speculation are just journos' click-bait.
I said it then and I'll say it now, I'll just wait and see.

    'Night all.

is anyone here shocked Edwards is on the side lines?

I've said time and again he's promoted way over his level.

also... irrespective of what's written... Barca don't have the money..
they will sell 5 guys and this deal will happen in june.

It looks certain that Coutinho will now leave. The key issue is when? It would be criminal to allow him to leave in January when we are just hitting our stride. It is not as if the Spanish need him at this moment. They are a certainty to win the league and Coutinho is cup tied for the CL.

The club and Klopp must insist that he doesn't leave until summer whatever price they are willing to pay. We simply cannot have our team being dismantled as soon as we get some winning system. We won't win that league title in the near future if our owners keep doing this.

I'm happy for him to go as long as we have a suitable replacement, that's not easily done. Lemar was linked but with his injury record it would be a risk so who else? Lanzini? He can play but it's when he feels like it, a no from me. Goretzka is heavily linked I don't know anything other than what I read but it would make sense as he wouldn't cost much to secure now with his contract up in the Summer and it would leave us with the Coutinho fee to improve other areas. This might be a good idea with the possibility of Can moving.

I'm not sure we'll get goretzka. He seems Bayern Munich bound. I will be gutted if coutiniho goes because there is no one on the market available to us that's at his level. As soon as he goes our first 11 is weaker imo.

I agree to a point, we are not going to sign someone at Coutinhos level as there are not many at that level and they cost too much and don't want to come. So what do we do? I think we look to change that position and buy someone who is good at winning the ball other than someone with as much craft as Coutinho.
Keita comes in the Summer and hopefully he'll have a new DM behind him now if we add another Keita type player then our midfield is very difficult to bypass.
