You are only as good as the position you are in the league. We could have a amazing team on paper but it means **** all
Just got home. Same old story. 1-0 up and then turn into the most negative bullshit team ever, and try to sit on the lead for the rest of the game. ****ing painful to watch. Shane Long our best player tonight. Tadic and Boufal both useless.
Maybe it is a generational thing but I came away from tonight's match thinking about how the squad was lacking a leader like Alan Ball or Jimmy Case in the team. We were the better team in the first half but clinically exposed by yet another manager with the nous to make changes when the players he has on the pitch are not performing. There was no leadership in tonight's performance and only another demonstration of our ability to throw away the initiative. It was staggering to hear the Krueger interview and whilst the comment about Southampton being a "small club" may stick in the craw of most supporters, the bland responses to the questions littered with managerial jargon is so typical of a management system that remains unable to identify it's own short-comings. I would suggest that tonight's performance coupled with that interview will make it less likely that we will recruit the necessary playing staff to salvage this season. Difficult to take Krueger's, Reed's or Pellgrino's comments as being credible in the absence of any semblance of improvement. Given Kreuger's mentality, the decline from the days of Poch and Koeman is easy to appreciate and looks a long way off being rectified.
There stands a man who knows he's out of his depth and it's painful to watch I think the board may stick with him though so expect plenty more interviews like that till May
We haven't got enough goalscorers, and we make at least one costly defensive blunder per game. In between, we do occasionaly play some good football, but the squad is imbalanced imo. A change of manager might lead to an improvement, but I wouldn't count on it. We just don't have enough players who know where the net is. That said, whoever is in charge for our next game, please ffs start Gabbiadini.
Never know, though you have to keep going until we lose... and what if we get all the way to 11th February?
Depends if you’ve got the same clueless individuals in key roles or whether Gao actually wants us promoted again.
Our squad should be mid table without massive concerns about relegation. Our squad is underperforming, in part due to disruptive influences. But it is the managers job to manage the team. Krueger is also to blame, can you imagine that **** happening under Cortese?
I agree it's a bit imbalanced and could do with a bit of work. I simply objected to the comment of 'not being good enough' when it's undoubtedly better than what we've seen so far.
Now people are getting home can someone please tell me exactly what happened with fans on the pitch at the end of the game?
Two consecutive managers have failed to get anything good going with this squad and the football was dire for a lot of Koemans second season too. The only reason we got 8th last year was because everyone else was **** and gifted it to us. If our goal is to just be the 'least' **** then that's a hell of a gamble to take.
One of those managers was evidently a hell of a lot more competent than the other. Just throwing it out there.
Just two fans I think, ran on from the Kingsland, and got bundled off by stewards. Didn't get near any of the players, most of them had already disappeared down the tunnel. It was nothing, couple of pissed off dickheads
I heard on solent as I was going to work something about ugly scenes with fans on the pitch, wondering what happened. Someone on here mentioned kicking off too.
