He won’t get what we need out of the squad. Every single player in the club will know what we know. They would all have been aware that the game needed changing and been pissed off it didn’t happen yet again we are managed by an under qualified, reactive idiot. They know it and know he has no real record of success. They will be thinking the same things we are.
Comparing us with 3 teams that were in the Championship last year and the team with the smallest budget in the league? Good effort. I would argue a combined Bournemouth/Saints XI would be pretty evenly split. I'd take the Bournemouth manager, that's for sure.
So would I manager wise but that's not what we were discussing. I took exception to you saying our squad isn't upto scratch which for me isn't true amply demonstrated by naming 5 clubs above us in the league with weaker squads. There's one person not upto scratch and he's in the dugout.
The squad isn't up to scratch for where I (and where the board have stated they aim) expect us to be challenging, which is top half. The manager is making things worse, as I stated. If the board want to give up on the idea of Europe then that's cool, they can pocket all that cash instead of spending it.
If they were all aware the game needed changing, why did they keep backing off and inviting Palace on, and why, when we won the ball off them, did they not look remotely interested in getting forward in numbers? You can't blame everything on the manager, it's the players who once again settled in to defending a lead, and made no attempt to play the game in the opponents half.
It would be pretty difficult to do anything other than ‘bounce’ at this point. Nothing to lose really.
I still think it's good enough for top 10 or at least just below. It's better than relegation battling anyway.
