Pied will need to be very controlled in how far he backs up the attack, and when. He sometimes gets too far forward, when we have possession down the left, rather than (IMO) hanging back a bit and getting a little bit narrower, to be closer to the CBs who will have shuffled across, slightly, to cover the left back pushing forward. If he gets too far forward and we lose possession Zaha will be all over the space behind him, waiting for the ball to be launched into it. On the other side of the coin, he will offer the attacking threat we have lacked, down the right, since Cedric was injured. Really hope we get off to a quick, solid start that includes a goal or two at the right end.
There's a worrying preponderance of full backs on this board trying to sound clever about the end of the pitch we never played in. Yes I was a substitute full back, even more unqualified to offer an opinion. No skill, no tactics, no idea!
JWP will be important in providing support to Pied dealing with Zaha as he needs stopping before he can throw himself to the floor the moment he gets into our box
