City's emergence as a power certainly rocked the foundations of the football establishment in the UK ... which arguably was no bad thing ... but it has always been the way of the world that the richest clubs have, to differing degrees, 'bought success' ... it is somewhat ironic that those fans who moan the most about City doing it have supported clubs that have themselves done it in different ways over years ... e.g what is more amoral - City 'self-funding' or United (the Glazers) mortgaging the club to the hilt? ... both in order to buy the best players available and maintain success ...

We won the EPL on a comparative shoestring ... yet backed by a billionaire owner without whom the 'fairy tale' really wouldn't have been possible ... whilst we couldn't have possibly sustained that success, we are still able to spunk £30 million on a player these days because of that wealthy backing ... that gives us a distinct advantage over many clubs around us (as @The Liebherr Legacy alludes) and means we are now "more likely than not" to be able to maintain a position within the "cash cow league" ... is it fair? perhaps not ... but I'm quite happy that we can, and that, on our day, we are capable of giving anyone a game ... there was a time when we were little more than cannon fodder every time we got promoted to the top table

I think his absence speaks volumes about his and the rest of the spurs lads mental state leading up to the game later... Fragile and fearful this could be the end of their top 4 challenge.

It's not bollocks though is it? They've built a state of the art training complex to the tune of £200m (under the radar of FFP) and they've enabled this through their owners who are in bed with the local council. You wanna build anywhere near their complex? Go see Manchester City council with your plans and they'll tell you that the cladding must be a certain shade of gold... why? Because the Sheikhs are going to end up owning the whole area.

It goes way deeper than that, it's pathetic, they take what they want and never take no for an answer and their accounts are testament to this.
