TEAM NEWS Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus is out after suffering a suspected knee injury at Crystal Palace. Kevin de Bruyne was also forced off at Selhurst Park after a heavy tackle and is unlikely to be available for Tuesday's game. David Silva, who has been absent for personal reasons, is not expected to play, but John Stones and Sergio Aguero could return to the starting line-up. Watford captain Troy Deeney completes a four-match suspension. Head coach Marco Silva is expected to choose from the same players he had available against Swansea. MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES Guy Mowbray: "Crystal Palace had a go, and I'd expect Watford to adopt a similar approach in the hope of catching Manchester City slightly out of sorts again in the midst of this busy run of games. I've always had a feeling that when City finally do see their unbeaten Premier League run of more than a year ended, it will be in this type of match rather than one of the 'bigger' ones. Maybe not this one specifically though. The Hornets have been struggling for results, and even with City now picking up injuries, Pep Guardiola is still likely to select a starting line-up who could all potentially be at the World Cup." WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY Pep Guardiola, asked about his Manchester City side ending the league season undefeated: "That is not going to happen. I am not thinking to be unbeaten. Maybe Arsene [Wenger] is worried about that but I tell him many times that 2004 run [when Arsenal avoided defeat throughout 2003-04] is for him. Today is completely different to 2004. [There] are now more strong teams, a lot of competitions, a lot of games. That is not going to happen." LAWRO'S PREDICTION Someone will beat Manchester City. But not this Watford side. They have been all over the shop ever since Everton made their unsuccessful approach for Marco Silva. They have lost five of their past six games and the players' form has just evaporated. Prediction: 4-0 Watford have lost a Premier League-high 16 points from winning positions this season. ENJOY THE GAME (If we can with this one!)
A shameless cut and paste for this one. How can we manage them tomorrow? Bit worrying really. Jesus, Silva (not Marco) and De Bruyne out give a glimmer of hope. It's a funny old game after all!! Maybe...
Depends on how much they really go for it I guess. We'll try to contain and sit back but cannot defend. Aguero always seems to get a few against us!
I'll try and follow on my phone, but enjoy the game those who go or catch a stream. That we put in a 100% shift is all we can ask, at least that will be a step forward from recent outing.
I like the way Guy Mowbray says it will be this type of game they get beaten, but maybe not this one though
Thanks Mex for putting this up. Computer seems better today, but I will wait a bit longer before I say it is back to normal. This game is one that on paper we cannot get anything out of. Still one sees what happens when you look at games on paper.
New Year. Clean sheet. Hope the golden boys go out there to have fun. This is like an FA Cup game when we were in lower divisions. And we should treat it as such. Scullion ..... Lugg ........ Endean. GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL If you believe it really can come true I'd personally put Gray on and rest Richarlison but I think I'm banging my head against a brick wall. Putting Gray on at the end for 20 mins just increases the pressure on him.
I have tickets but Mlle is ill and it is going to be dark windy and wet tonight.... and that is just the Watford team
No news on team or anything I'm afraid. And at this moment the Spanish telephone people are trying to thread a fiber connection so I'm expecting to be incognito very soon and possibly miss the match. So we should win
This game starts at 9 am on a day that I'm on holiday and I really don't know if I want to watch. The only positive is that I have absolutely no expectation that we will win, or even lose by less than four. Having said that, watching us lose to a team of the calibre of Palace or Swansea would be more upsetting.
Yorkie your sacrifice is appreciated. We'll walk it now. Seriously hope other (better) half gets well soon. And at home you'll get a better view of Richarlison's first goal. C'mon u'orns
Watson says there will no pressure on us tonight (well might be if we lose badly and teams below win...) so is he saying the team have been suffering with pressure and expectations in the last month or so? http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...n_play_without_pressure_against_City/?ref=rss
