A couple of games from Leeds 1964-5 first season in Division 1, if you have an hour to spare sometime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P3MpkIF5Nc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mxGNRtTU2k You could see a tremendous development in the team between the first game (away at Chelsea) in September and the second (away at Arsenal) in February. Just a few comments from me I happened to notice: First game: Leeds played with effectively 9 men as no substitutes allowed. Giles went off and Greenhoff crippled. Noticed Sprake threw the ball out a lot and they played from the back (TC not wrong on everything then) Defence bloody good but overrun in midfield first half. Only Collins played well, Bremner seemed lacking in confidence and was playing as number 8, inside forward sort of role. Did not play well and at fault for first goal. Later on, when down to effectively 9, Bremner played better in his more usual midfield role Second Game: Less than 5 months later, still bloody good defence, but fck me the midfield.......... Collins (still very good), Bremner now where he should be at No 4 (best player on pitch) and Giles (officially right wing but playing everywhere). Poor Arsenal. Again we were playing the ball out of defence a lot. Only one other comment: the commentator was blatently patronising to Leeds, creaming himself at half time at the thought we'd have the wind against us second half and struggle (erm...... no, wrong). And calling Reaney Renee (like a Frenchman) all the way through, the wally. In fact name was Wally Barnes so fair enough Anyway, enjoy if you fancy some history. And - happy new year!
Millwall were formed in the 19th Century - just like Bristol City. Bristol City did win a trophy - The Welsh Cup in 1934 - We've won a lot more
