Apparantly Ndong is in talks with Watford about a €10m move, and as if things couldnt get any worse..... Chris Coleman faces an anxious wait regarding the severity of Darron Gibson’s groin problem as Sunderland suffered another injury blow. The influential midfielder, who had been nursing a groin problem over the festive fixtures, was withdrawn after just 33 minutes of the 1-0 defeat to Barnsley. please log in to view this image Bryan Oviedo was subbed at half-time. With Lee Cattermole, Didier Ndong and Jonny Williams injured and sub Paddy McNair only just back from injury, Coleman said he had no choice but to play Gibson - and the Black Cats boss is fearing the worst. "Darron thinks he has popped his groin, which doesn’t sound good," said Coleman. "We will have to wait and see. He will get scanned, but if it is what is suspected then it is a big blow. Lee Cattermole won’t be back for another couple of weeks, so we are going to have to get Paddy McNair ready for Boro. "We have the transfer window and could, possibly, bring someone in that position. Where else do we go? That’s all that we have at the moment. "Gibbo has been pulling the strings for us, he was just settling into the game and that happened. I am bitterly disappointed. We had no choice but to play him because Paddy was not fit to start. "We lose Darron now but we had nowhere else to turn apart form a few young ones. That’s the worrying thing." Marc Wilson was missing with a tight calf suffered at Nottingham Forest, the game against Barnsley coming too soon. He will be assessed ahead of the FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday. Coleman said: "His calf had tightened up and he couldn't play. We can't start him and then lose him for six weeks. He is too important. "With a bit of luck Marc will be okay, but this game came round too quickly for him. Do we risk him against Boro? Maybe not." Bryan Oviedo was subbed at half-time against Barnsley, but Coleman confirmed that it was for tactical reasons, the Black Cats boss describing the left-back as "rusty" and lacking fitness after his recent injury. Coleman added: "Bryan wasn't injured, I just felt he looked rusty and lacked a bit of fitness. We changed it around. "Tactically we had to do it differently because we had different players on the pitch. "Bryan had been out for a while, he played at Sheffield United and maybe that was a bit much for him where he is fitness wise.
With Lee Cattermole, Didier Ndong and Jonny Williams injured and sub Paddy McNair only just back from injury, Coleman said he had no choice but to play Gibson. He does have a choice Embleton How man can he be any worse try him and see
I'd rather not lose Ndong but he should fetch decent money at least. Real shame about Gibson, just as he was putting in consistent performances and winning the fans over. ****ing typical. Short needs to spend and soon because apart from anything else the injuries are mounting up.
@SkySports_Keith Chris Coleman: “The goal we conceded today was criminal. You won’t often see a corner bounce in the box. Unforgivable. We just buckled today. It was all too much for us and I can’t believe I’m saying that.” SAFC @SkySports_Keith Chris Coleman confirms Darron Gibson is set to be out for “some time” with the groin injury that saw him limp off. @SkySports_Keith Chris Coleman: “If we fatten the squad up in terms of numbers we have a chance [of staying up]. I agree, our fate could lie in the success of this transfer window.”
This squad will be relegated IMO We need to sell before we buy, so if a bid is put in that will give CC some manoeuvrability then we need to sell
Snap their hands off! We need to sell him and Konè if we can and pray Coleman is given some of the money to bring some players in who will actually play
Bought the lad for what 13 million and sell him for 10....same old, same old....no wonder we are f*cked....
It will be close run thing no doubt, and we certainly need more choices than are available at present, if we are to save our skin. I have been a big fan of Coleman so far, but playing Gibson was not a great call, far better as you say to have given another young lad a run out, this and the continued overlooking of Beadling worries me a bit. The hectic glut of games over the holiday period was the perfect time to introduce some fresh faces, and give the walking wounded a rest (I nearly said break ). To say he is sheltering Oviedo, while risking Gibson is a puzzle, unless he has already written him out of his plans, this would be a mistake imo, interesting times ahead methinks.
We need him gone, what he's putting in doesn't justify his wage space and the fee can help stabilize the club.
How will 8m stabilize the club I dont see it, loosing one of our best players for so small a fee does not look like good buisiness to me
He's not even playing at the minute and hasn't played much this season. We need to suck any financial loss up (regarding his transfer) as we need funds now to get more players in.
I said can help, as in contribute, not will stabilise, bit of a gulf in what I said and what you're saying I said mate. when we've got fees going out for players we don't even own anymore, there's a good chance and lump fees could help to stabilise. You say one of our best players, matter of opinion mate, he should be for the money we paid but he's been average at best, no consistency, even Mr Christmas tipple himself Darron Gibson has been putting performances which put Ndong to shame. I don't see any point in keeping a player who isn't performing but can help ease our debt amd create room on the wage bill for new players which are desperately needed.
If there is 15 players in the penalty area how can the ball bounce on the pitch inside the penalty area ?, it seems a another first for this football club, and a free header leads to the goal. Spend now and in the summer and get 40,000+ back don't spend and relegation and 15 - 20,000 next season. The training ground needs exorcising as well because we must be cursed. Chris should say before the Cardiff game go out and kick the ball down the pitch, don't jump for the ball while defending, lose the ball easily (Mcgeady) put awful crosses in and straight to the goaly and maybe they get the hint.
We didn't pay £13m for Ndong. That was the overall figure we could end up paying We are paying £2m a year. We'd be mad to turn down £8m. He's been **** this season. Hasn' started a game since November and by all accounts wants away. Get rid while we can. Likewise with Kone
I get your drift , spoken in haste and all that, just sick of loosing one of our better players (my opinion) to make ends meet, its so depressing. Still think we will stay up, however, as it should be doable, even on our budget, must be lots of players available at this level who if picked with care, would strengthen this team enough to give us peace of mind.
I think we'll stay up, i think Ndong and Kone will free up the wage space to bring in players who want to play for us. Replacing Grabban's goals could be the decisive factor though :/
By selling all our players to by new ones is that not how we have landed up with this pile of ****, just about every " crap " player we have sold plays in a team higher than us
