I wish I had your optimism. But being a hard nosed realist I cannot see how from where we are we can improve significantly to catch the others up. City, Chelsea and the mancs are not going to stand still.

What do they say? It is the hope that gets us in the end...

I can only speak for myself lol. But for me it's the problem of building a team and having decent players but when we get linked to or getting some quality in finally I know it's because we will be losing 1 maybe 2 key players we have now not adding to what we have already, so have to start a fecking again!!

That's the ****ing hope that kills me lol.

all teams lose players it's what you do with the profits that counts.

atletico are ultimate example of wise spending. falcao torres Aguero Costa Griezmann etc.

spurs sold berbaflop, Keane did shag all with it.
sold bale, modric... ****ed it up.

since then they have done ok with the bargain players. stole alderweireld and low net spend. walker going for example

I think we should really see that little gap of 4 points is not major but its down to us drawing games. i think the gd is interesting though. its not that long since we had.0 gd after letting in a shedload.

the 3 points to spurs is amazing considering the asslicking the press were giving spurs a month or so ago.

We're still 2 points off the 2 point average, so a lot of work to go.

its not too bad. You are right, we have to do a little better in the second half of season than this first half.

A draw v arsenal and we have 35 points which is exactly half of the 70 so I'd agree. this year it looks like 7th to 4th all competing so far so... we need to pick up a few more points. the 4 we dropped last week would have been very handy indeed.

We are just drawing too many. we are actually the side who has lost the second fewest amount of games after city.

like.... watford, newkie, everton = 6 points thrown away form winning positions to sides who had not much right to the points. Utd and west brom defended for draws so we were not good enough to merit the win.

6 points.... that changes our outlook no?

13-3-2 puts us second in table....

Suggests a fine margin based on our current team between being up there and not. Better than being nowhere but just so close... is it close enough for this season or not? I still think not. close but not quite unfortunately. If we coudl buy 2 players in janaury and they instantly fitted in we could.

Let’s hope that this rotation reaps rewards in the second half of the season.

Rotation purpose is to prevent injury to players especially when we are playing many games over the festive period.

    1. LFC remaining fixtures:

    Manchester City H
    Swansea City A
    Huddersfield Town A
    Tottenham Hotspur H
    Southampton A
    West Ham United H
    Newcastle United H
    Manchester United A
    Watford H
    Crystal Palace A
    Everton A
    Bournemouth H
    West Brom A
    Stoke City H
    Chelsea A
    Brighton and Hove Albion H

    2. Suggested must win games:
    Watford
    Newcastle
    Huddersfield
    Stoke
    Brighton
    Bournemouth
    Swansea

    3. LFC toughest games due to teams involved
    Palace A
    west ham H
    southampton A
    west brom A

    4. LFC games v direct rivals:
    City
    Utd
    spurs
    Chelsea
    Everton :bandit:

    5. What do we need:

We are on 44 points so we need 32 more points to match last year (76). 32/3 = 11 wins.

There are 11 games there between the games a top 4 side really ought to win and the 4 tougher games to get there... leaving 5 games spare v the main rivals as pure bonuses.

This suggests we are on track..... but only just on track. we are not zooming into a top 4 finish here with anything to spare and this is because the usual 70 points target is being pushed by two other teams in Arsenal and Spurs.

An arsenal implosion and a spurs debacle would be most welcome as they are the ones who will be making the magic 4th place higher than 70-75 points.

    6. The run in:
    Bournemouth H
    West Brom A
    Stoke City H
    Chelsea A
    Brighton and Hove Albion H

You really really couldn't ask for a better run in could you? the one big rival away sure but look at those home games. All those teams should be needing points.

In a way it is difficult to pick and choose which matches will be easy and which will be more tricky. The matches to win are those against the rivals for top 4 or at least not to lose. Spurs Arsenal Chelsea and Man U are must not lose.
