  9. They're referring to Saints v Brighton as a "derby."

    It's hardly that, is it?

I always laugh when they refer to Saints v Portsmouth as a "derby!" They're in different Cities ffs! <doh>

At least there is a fierce rivalry between Saints and Pompey... but Saints v Brighton?

We have three officials that should be working in tandem to ensure that the rules are followed and the decisions are as accurate as possible. They generally get more right than wrong IMO.
Football for me still has a "working class" charm about it, if you go to the games. Meeting your mates, having a couple of swift ones, having a bit of banter (within acceptable boundaries) and blowing off a bit of steam is what it's all about for me. I'm more than happy if the ref isn't centre of attention, but also not that bothered if he gets one wrong from time to time.
From that perspective I'm not sure what technology is going to add. I do appreciate that I support a team outside of the premiership and the riches aren't the same, maybe that dampens my views.

VAR is good in Rugby League as it becomes part of the spectacle and there’s real anticipation in the build-up as the crowd awaits the decision.

Trust football fans, let them know why decisions are being made on the screen. The farce ensues when no one has a clue what’s happening.

That's the bit that fills me with dread. "And the winner is"...30 seconds later after a load of nonsense appears on the screen, the decision is announced. If I wanted that bollox, I would watch the X factor!

Each to their own. I’d like to see how it goes down given it works well in RL which is probably the closest sport in terms of atmosphere.

As I've consistently said, it's my opinion and it sounds like I'm in the minority.
