Really am getting fed up with all the negativity on here. Progress. FFS, it's the New Year & we're 5th. How many would have accepted that at the start of the year? We're actually on target! Performances. I think there are a few with memory problems on here. Since we left the PL, there have been times I just didn't want to go watch us, as I knew just how bad we'd be. Had to drag myself to ER. How we didn't go down to L1 more often defies logic. 3-4 years ago, it had improved sufficiently for me to watch the game through my fingers, with dread. Last season, things perked up. We started winning, and you almost felt like we had a chance each match. Fingers no longer requered to view the match! This season, I've absolutely loved it. Crap games too. We might not dominate every match, we might even be scrappy more than we'd like, but it's been an absolute delight for me this season. January signings. I have some sympathy here, though I do wonder if we'd still have all the wailing & weeping if we were in the middle of a run like the start of the season. LB - There is an absolutely solid case for a LB. No brainer. No discussion required. The rest I'm not so convinced about. Goalkeeper - Hot discussion point. I'll argue the case for Felix, but not Lonners. He needs replaced, as I don't think he's anywhere close to adequate cover. Sadly, he's proved this. That's the only case for a keeper I'll listen to. If he's better than Felix, then great. Bailey Double-Barrel? Can't be any worse than Lonners IMO. Striker - Not convinced we need to sign anyone, but won't say no to a superstar. I look at our goals scored this season, and the goals per minute stats of Roofy & Soggy, and I'm a happy chappy. Will never say no to improvement, but really think we might make an incorrect choice if we rush into a January signing. Then again, if the rumours about Soggy being unhappy are true, there might be a stronger case. But they're only rumours. Others - We appear to have reasonable cover in defence, DMs & AMs, but if TC/Orta want to sign someone, I'm hardly going to refuse, am I? We actually have a lot to be grateful for, but you'd never guess it.
When Ekuban's back, and IF he can stay fit, it'll be like a new signing because this guy is the real deal imo
I agree and I can’t see us getting a proven striker, who in their right mind sells a top striker at this stage of the season? It’s going to have to be a gamble or loan, I’d be happy for Lasogga to return and get someone else in. We’re unfortunate in that we have two injury prone strikers and it’s hindering us a little. I thought Felix had a bit of unfair criticism for the goal, it wasn’t great saving and parrying into a danger zone but not blunder of the season.

Great post WJ. With all the negative bollox on here I admire your stamina. Some people choose to forget where we are in the table, stability off the field, and how good we can be on our day. They also deliberately ignore the fact that Leeds have no God-given right to win every game in order to have a good old whinge. At least if they showed some positivity when it was warranted instead of just endless monotone bleating I could give their views some credence - as it stands I just have to mark it down to pursuit of some alternative agenda. They have every right to post what they choose by the way, but feck it gets boring.
Thing I don’t get is all of this bitching is happening on 1st January not 1st February. People are talking as though we haven’t done any business and they know for certain we won’t. I’ll throw 2 names in the mix that wouldn’t cost fortunes but could be good business. Garbutt - I know the sage of Harrogate says his dad wouldn’t let him come back to Leeds but the guy is 24 and needs to get his career moving again (has he been injured? Can’t see he has played at all this season). We are ok with Berardi so it’s not like he urgently needs to fit in. I’d also investigate whether Grabban can break his loan at Sunderland. Huddersfield did it with Brown last year to take him away from a struggling Rotherham. I keep hearing that if we don’t go up we will lose the likes of Jannson, Viera, Saiz and Alioski. Maybe but, if our owner is so pap how did we get to have such sought after players in the first place??

Caleb Ekuban just might not be good enough or he may be too injury prone too. His career is dire really and hardly scored a goal for years until he went to Tirana. Tirana is hardly a place for outstanding footy, but he scored 17 goals in 34 games so well done to him, but for years before that a return of 7 in 45 aint brilliant. He arrived in the Summer and to be fair he looks a mobile powerhouse, something we miss. He scored in pre season when Antonnson couldnt, but then got injured. He was out for 2 months came back and looked good again but without scoring even though he got himself into some clear scoring positions. In the few matches he played he could have scored 3 goals and stopped us having that fall in form, he didnt but he got in their and just needed one to go in for him. So i think we cant say Ekuban is the answer because he hasnt answered any questions yet. I hope he does but it wont be until March at the earliest
