McQueen was good, no major errors but his crossing wasn’t great. He made one utterly brilliant tackle when (I think) Rashford was clear through and Sam caught him up and cleanly got the ball across the touchline from behind.
I heard and interview with an ex professional referee prior to a Saints tv match and he highlighted Shane and Dusan as known divers and said that referees won't give them anything unless they are absolutely positive. It's like Mane was a diver until he moved to Scousehampton when become the most fouled. Zaha is an apauling cheat but he will only continue to do so whilst the referees are stupid enough to fall for it
http://www.croydonadvertiser.co.uk/...stal-palace-massively-stretched-injury-994353 As expected....Puncheon and Dann out.
That's what found amazing. He usually hits the deck when ever any touchs him but a proper elbow in the stomach and no real reaction. Strange reaction from Dusan but he is built like a lightweight boxer so should be able to take a hit or two
Like a lot of players, Tadic's first instinct is to drop like a sack of spuds at the slightest contact when he's in possesion. He's not actually made of glass, and Young's little dig was less than nothing really...
I was surprised that Palace managed to hold City to a 0-0 draw and I would have expected another hard-fought game on Tuesday night. However, we are long overdue a winning performance at home and I would not be surprised if we took the good performance at Old Trafford as a building block to comfortably pick up three points. Merrington was purring in his admiration for Saints over the weekend and I would like us to do something similar at St Marys. It was a bad weekend for Saints in some respects with other teams picking up unlikely points and I would love to see us throw Palace back down into deeper relegation trouble.
The draw against United was a good result, but I don't think we played so much better.....it was more that chance turned in our favour. Eventually it had to be us....ref tossed his mental coin and didn't give a penalty against Yoshi and Pogba decided to touch a ball when in an off side position. Palace on the other hand have turned their season round.....amazing to see them below us after the run of results they have had. I've given up thinking our season has turned round....been caught out before....but I'm hoping that for once the home advantage will tell for us and the team have gained confidence from the draw at Old Trafford. Welcome to the new despondent 2018 model of Fran (still with small flame of hope not quite extinguished). Happy New year everyone
Was enjoying this thread up to this point. The Daily Mail reports over-use of "Happy Pills". Glad to see you've not got onto this particular bandwagon, Fran.
We have to strap ourselves in until the end of the season. Love to see us have a run of results....that would be 2 consecutive games this season....but I think we must be pragmatic and concentrate on not getting too high or too low.
Oh Fran, we played so much better against United. Much improved, even if we had lost it could have been seen as a positive. For a start, I don’t think anyone could have said United were better than us on the day.
I'm a long way from being convinced that this manager can set a team up to win games rather than to play defensively. Our problem is we need to be positive as we need wins big time.
Not sure I like this version of Fran as much as last year’s, but didn’t you say earlier that you only saw the highlights? The difference between the energy of the team from the Huddersfield and especially the Tottenham games was astronomical, and we were unlucky not to score at least twice. Yes, the Yoshida penalty decision could have gone the other way, but then Ashley Young could have been sent off and we would have had a pen too if Pawson had been looking that way. I do agree with the part about Palace though, they will be a harder nut to crack than United most definitely, as they are fighting for their lives. The question is, is playing at home really an advantage for us these days? It seems to me that the team are under far less pressure away from the poisonous vibes at St Mary’s.
My point was that we have played other games and got nothing or dropped points late in game...we had no luck at all. I'm not going to see this as the moment our season changed (until proved) because we have been here before. I still think we will get just enough points to be safe, but we haven't had to think like that in the Leihberr era. Let's hope we get back to an organised and talented side next season.
We did play better but I also agree with the point that Man Utd were bad compared to Spurs. Some of that would have been down to our improvements but not all. Palace will be a more realistic benchmark of how we’re doing.
