The yanks invested in the Swans by buying shares. They committed their money, hoping to see the value of that investment increase (just as you or I would invest in the stock market). The only reason they'll provide a cash injection is to increase the value of their holding. However, the Swans Trust have a significant holding as well, so if the yanks unilaterally provided a cash injection they're basically giving money to the trust as their holding would increase as well. Say the yanks injected £10M in the club, that means the holding of the Trust would go up by 2 million (not quite as simple as that but it'll suffice to make the point). Either that or the trust needs to inject an equivalent percentage. If you're asking the yanks to put their hands in their pockets, you also need to ask all other share holders to stump up an equivalent percentage commensurate with their stock holding. Treat all share holders equally. The other alternative is to have a rights issue, where the company (the Swans) issues additional shares to be bought by interested parties. That money does go into the club coffers BUT dilutes the value of the existing shares in circulation. Simple economics and the way the stock market works. I've read a lot on here and on other sites about where the yanks money went. They bought a stake in the club from the existing shareholders. No money went into the club's coffers it went to the sellers. It's a bitter pill to swallow but many of us have been there. And as Hilts said, the PL has created this monster. Either a plaything for the VERY wealthy (Chelsea, Man City) or an opportunity for the unscrupulous. And there are plenty of those out there. While I do feel for the Swans, Brum, Hull, and previously us, among others, there is a deal of hypocrisy on here towards Jenkins. I was heavily criticised on here and on the sites predecessor when I questioned Jenkins motives at the outset when swans fans were fawning over Jenkin's 'love of the club'. My stance was always that if he loved the club that much he'd have stepped in a lot earlier. He was and is a businessman first and foremost and wanted the club as cheap as he could get it. He's increased the value of the club significantly and took a return on his investment. Another couple results like yesterday and your position will improve from a league position. A lot of work to be done off the field though.
But apart from being a divisive figure, just what does Huw do? He certainly plays no part in the day to day running of the Business, that is now the responsibility of Pearlman. So, is he merely the link between the Football Management team and the Owners? If that's all he does, surely we can get better for the money than Huw?
Sorry but that is simply incorrect. If the Yanks injected £10m via a loan, the Trust's holding and value would be unchanged. As well as the cash in the bank, there would be a liability on the Balance Sheet for an equal amount.
I didn't say Laudrup brought them in only that they dried up after the spat. As for your assessment ... we all have opinions.
Totally agree if the cash injection is a loan. That doesn't seem to be what most fans are asking for though. If it's a loan, there are lots of other vehicles out there that wouldn't involve them and makes you less beholding to them. Unless they provide security for the loan. On the flip side, you need to know who is behind the loan. Its where the whole Sam / Langstons issue arose. Similarly the Glaziers take over of Manure was well publicised as it was totally debt funded.
Jenkins has no power ,now he is an employee of the Club which in isolation is no issue but in doing what he did by selling the majority of his shares and his voting rights made the Trusts position in the Boardroom so much weaker than it should ever have been .Posters keep saying well he put his money in and deserves the rewards but ask yourself this does his reward include shafting the Club because that's exactly what he's done by his and others actions ,he became a wealthy man over the past few years "earning " a more than decent amount of money but that wasn't enough and for greedy people that's normally the case .
Most of the capital used by Glazer to purchase Manchester United came in the form of loans, the majority of which were secured against the club's assets!
Tan took control of Cardiff via a similar mechanism. Fortunately for us, he's converting his loans into equity as he said he would once the Langston situation was resolved.
Let them get on with it...there is nothing we can do about it....It will sort itself out in the end.......We won away yesterday you know......
I couldn’t tell you what their individual roles are & I certainly take your point. A lot of people would say Huw certainly doesn’t warrant what he earns now, or ever even. Who would we like to replace him with tomorrow, for example, if we could?? Maybe just put it out there..
They don't seem interested in the team, that's for sure. Still early days though. They are leading a large consortium and many other interests. If they hadn't come in would we be in a bnetter or worse position?
If they hadn't sold to the yanks do you believe they wouldn't have tried harder to sell to some one as equally as suspect as the Yanks
Not sure there was atone out there. More likely we'd have failed to secure loans and players would have been sold to remain in the black. And still ended up relegated.
But this isn't just about playing in the PL this is about the future of the Club , do you think that with the yanks in charge we'll be better off playing in any other league , they have history of not putting money into any venture they have acquired other than the initial purchase of shares .
Not sure how it will turn out but (even) Barnsley has secured foreign investment. Additionally, there is a British front-runner interested in buying Newcastle United - so don't always have to look overseas. I recognise and accept that we are not as 'big' as the Toon - their asking price is £300m but I suspect that there would always be interest in owning a PL team.
I was just asking as the previous efforts by Jenkins et al only attracted the three bidders - two joke efforts and Kaplan's
Huw on Sky Sports. He won’t be going to The Liberty Stadium ant time soon: https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...ty/11630881/jenkins-i-used-to-dread-fan-abuse
