We've been punting the ball aimlessly forward from the back since Pardew. Carver actually said wgen questioned by a fan that they keep telling them to stop, and it's not a tactic, yet here we are still with a completely different team and the same issue thats now existed over four managers.
-Saivet was saved by the free-kick on reflection, otherwise its an OG and a quiet performance. Though i hope to see him in next match, realisitically most would say Hayden and Merino is the best partnership we have, then Shelves on the bench. Lack of squad depth, not being allowed to bring funds in to create a proper team. Again the CMs returning is why no Diame, maybe the return of our two highest goal contributors saw Aarons out. Couple with the fact he'd started his first competitive game in a while, hopefully see something of him next match. Joselu holds up well, but its not really about that. Its that theres nobody else. And as much as I'd love it, when has anyone in a relegation battle really played youth? Every match is high intensity that can ruin confidence. Rafa's a tinkerer so in theory there should be no set formation. But really 442 has come out due to the lack of an AM and the constant groans around St. James' for more attacking football. To me we dont have the key players for either formation but expect a return to 451 once rafa gets his AM as he's clearly losing patience with Perez
This. Rafa isn’t instructing the players to not pass more than 2 or 3 times in a row. Rafa isn’t instructing the players not to compete or tackle. Rafa does make mistakes, he does make weird selections and he does make weird substitutions but, and it’s a big but ( Think Obi’s) he is the best manager we can expect to have at present. If we had the likes of Pards then I hate to think where we would be. Yes, Rafa’s political but I prefer that to a mouthpiece like Pards. And don’t get me started on the likes of Fat Sam, Pulis and Co. If we invest in players properly in January then we will survive, if we don’t it will be close, very close.
Rafa's tactics and selections were a large part of the problem today. He clearly has his favourites and it doesn't ****ingmatter how bad they play. Saivet - Just **** off Rafa. Played well last weekand dropped from sight since. **** off with your stubborn short sighted bollocks. Mitrovic - As above. He may not be great but he is better than that useless sack of **** Spanish **** that you bought. Mbemba - Get a ****ing grip. Best defender at the club. Had a fantastic game on Weds and is dropped for Clark. Something is not right. The man has lost the ****ing plot. He set us up to ****ing draw at home. It's embarrassing.
A lot of that is down to rotation and expected in the busy period. Mbemba, Saivet and Aarons played their first competitive game in time recently. Two played city and had to run all match. I'll be ****ed off if theres no sign of any of em against Stoke mind. All I'll say about Mitro is we tried to shift him all summer and there were no buyers. Nobody can say It's just Rafa that doesn't rate him in the football world, there were no concrete offers for a guy effectively transfer listed.
Both teams Most touches - Yedlin (83) Most Tackles - Yedlin (5) Most Aerials won (not CB) - Yedlin (4) Highest rated Player (NUFC) - Clark (7.96) Shelvey's stats glow in comparison to Merino's (and he only played 18 mins.) https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1...er-League-2017-2018-Newcastle-United-Brighton
merino was poor the day ..seemed knackered .Anyway, who had a decent game ,prob 2 c halfs ,thats all. One thing i noticed ,was the shape was all over the place ..no outlet out wide . Atsu was nearly in c mid , loads of times . Not sure what was said , but that is no good .
Evening Albert, Happy New Year Just had a quick scan thru and its not a happy board. Lads it is what it is, don't slip into the negativity we did last year and you'll still stay up. Bile from the terraces ducks you at home, look at us. get behind them and stay behind them and you'll be ok don't and you'll be in trouble. If the tw*t next to you boos…chin the cnut ! Stay together lads
Happy New Year mate. I have a moany pair of Manc women who sit behind me moaning all match in their Coronation Street accents and constantly tutting. At one point today the older one said ‘chuffin ell what was that’ once too often as an opposition player messed up a pass and it came straight to us. She clearly forgot she should be happy about it as it was actually a chance for us and not another moan opportunity!! I just turned around and said ‘let’s support the team eh lasses’. Not a peep for the rest of the game. Moany ****ers should either zip It and support the team during the game... or stay at home and save the depression if it’s that bad.
Its a game of Chess down there, Rafa knew you couldn't lose it. You'd have took 4 points from WHU, City and Brighton. Tough games but you took 4. Nice 2 see you's sweat but hope you stay up.
Got **** loads next to me in the east stand... One in particular who wants rafa oot..... "useless fat ****" is his favourite.... We've had some interesting conversations
Tell me about it, they should just fack off. Ive had a belly full at our place, half the reason we are where we are.
As much as I agree with this, I have to say that Rafa should do all he can to set us up to beat Brighton at home. I understand that we stuck 2 up front but the tactics still seemed to be very defensively minded, everyone behind the ball when we lost possession and no high press at all. There is no way that we'd get a better manager than Rafa right now but Jesus Christ he needs to take some criticism for the fkn abject performances we've seen this year. Honestly, I'd think he'd settle for a draw if we were playing Gateshead or Blyth Spartans (no disrespect meant..)
I agree he is over cautions... He was the same in the Championship... I was warned by some scouse mates of mine and they were reet.... But he can only work with what he has.
