One year the company I worked for decided to give the staff a bottle of wine for Xmas. It turned out,, as at that time I was the youngest, they were one bottle short so I didn't get one. As it was a bottle of Liebfrauenmilch , the general consensus was that I was the lucky one.
I have two autistic children, one is very introvert and high ability, he works well and doesn’t need the attention, the other is average ability wise but behaviour is a massive issue. I also have 6 dyslexic children and two children in care which also affects behaviour. It’s a tough cohort to be honest, but provided they have structure it isn’t too bad. We had to work all the way up to the end of term, which brought questions from some parents as other classes were watching dvds etc, but if we had gone down that road it would have been a nightmare.
That’s decent. The problem with supply is getting the work but If you develop a good rep you will get the work.
We usually get wine, a top end Xmas do, a lower end Xmas do & management gifts. Bonus time is end of April. This year I received nothing.
And so on to the bestest bonus I had this year. I met my 16 month old/young, great niece for the first time today. So beautiful. It doesn't get better than that
We hosted Christmas Day tea this year (like most years as the rest of the family - 20 plus of them - are in general lazy ****ers). Anyway each brings a dish. Bear with me, there is relevance to this thread. One of my brothers in law is a lazy selfish ****er, truly the epitome of it, and his Xmas gift from work was a large Ham. He brings it every ****ing year and its a running joke with some of us. Nobody eats it. This year his missus left it by the front door to take back with them at the end. Our dogs got to it first. I ****ing laughed my cock off. There was about half of it left after our 2 floor mops had finished with it, and she said no worries as she's going to make a stew so the boiling will kill any remaining germs. I kid you not! Anyway Happy New Year everyone.
So many don’t, and if they do it’s because they work ridiculous hours on nights and weekends My daughter is a teacher and she’s dropping a day...so she has a day to do planning and marking etc so she can get her evenings and weekends back So she’s delighted to only have to do a day a week for free! Madness I’ll not hear a word said against teachers...they’re all doing an incredibly important job in a ****ty league table obsessed environment
I got a 30 pound Argos voucher and treated myself to a branded kettle instead of Asda own brand , sorry if that makes me a snob , but that's how I roll now
I don't entirely disagree with you, Dennis, although I believe, that just as in other professions there are the good, the bad and the indifferent. I also believe that the age group and scholarly discipline has a part to play. I have three relatives and a number of friends who are or have been teachers, a couple walked away from mainstream and soon went went back as agency, earning more money and even more holidays. Your last paragraph is a bit of a challenge as poor teachers need outing and we shouldn't have any professions beyond reproach. Totally agree with your view on the league tables, but what is the answer to the questions they are supposed to ask?
Of course there’s good and bad teachers, I was talking in general not about individuals In my opinion it’s better to look to peer review to encourage continuous schoolimprovement rather than league tables which are used to force academisation as an objective in its own right rather than a means to improve ...anyway I’m pissed off about blowing a 2 goal lead so maybe not best time to discuss
