Thought I would grab the chance (and the glory!) to open the very first match thread on SAFC not606. For all the sad *******s like me who will be watching a stream rather than enjoying the adrenaline rush of the SOL. Better food here, mind! I heard Mark Chapman on 5 Live hallf an hour ago in the car - live from the SOL. He said he was chatting with Brucey on the sideline. Asked him if a repeat of the 3-0 was on the cards. Brucey did not make a prediction, apparently, but said that the win at SB was his greatest managerial achievemnt ever. IMO it was but the first of many. Roll on Nou Camp
Teams from safc.com Steve Bruce has handed Stephane Sessegnon an immediate debut as Sunderland host Chelsea. Sessegnon slots into a five-man midfield in place of Bolo Zenden, who is out with a knee injury. Anton Ferdinand keeps John Mensah out of the side while youngster Adam Reed is named on the bench. Sunderland: Gordon, Onuoha, Bardsley, Bramble (C), Ferdinand, Richardson, Henderson, Sessegnon, Elmohamady, Malbranque, Gyan. Subs: Mignolet, Angeleri, Riveros, Mensah, Colback, Reed, Cook. Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cole, Bosingwa, Terry (C), Essien, Mikel Obi, Lampard, Kalou, Anelka, Drogba. Subs: Turnbull, Ramires, Malouda, Ferreira, Bruma, McEachran, Sala. I am surprised to see both Elmo and Sess because I thougt Sess was RM.
I'm with you, 56Danny, I hope there's a decent website showing it! I'm hoping for a draw, Chelsea are on top form, but if we score and don't lose, I'll be happy.
Yep, it's obvious when you think about it. Riveros the only option in the bench. Great to hear Wise Men Say ringing out. I have only just tuned in. Was the surfer flag shown on TV?
I worry about Elmo V A. Cole. Ricco had him in his pocket at SB but I don't rate Elmo's defensive qualities TBH
It's a different Chelsa from the SB game, that's for sure. You definitely can see them scoring here. Anelka probs. Question is can we outscore them? Looking good so far.
My stream is crap because of my ISP. Missed the penno incident. Have to change to radio on safc.com Any opinions?
