The commentator ends that clip by saying that the day will forever be remembered for Taibi’s blunder. He was right of course, yet I always remember it for the fantastic save he made in the last minute when Beattie was through one v one. I think I may have died that day if that had gone in.
Forgot it was a 17:30 KO (as it wasn't in the title of the thread... ) Gutted as arranged my day so I can watch it on NBC Sports streamed at 3pm, and also arranged for Mrs No 7 to be out. She comes back at 5 ish. Maybe I should get her to treat herself and go out for a meal. On the other hand, why waste money as I'll be pissed off at 7:30pm with another abject performance and she will come in after spending a fortune on a meal.
One of our better performances, this season, was the undeserved 0-1 result, when Man Utd robbed us at SMS. A similar performance, with the result reversed would be nice, if unlikely. I too had forgotten it was a 5.30 kick off, so earlier results could have a big impact on how we approach the game, with a narrow, “let’s keep the goals down” being ultimately better, in the greater scheme of things, than a gung-ho heavy defeat seriously affecting the GD.
If we're still 14th at KO, then we'll have had a small result. Especially with WBA, Palace and West Ham all following us in having difficult games against big six sides. (Although even if we are still 14th, they'd be a reasonable chance of our GD dropping us down to 15th come 7.30)
I never quite get the logic of trying to keep the goal difference down. Even if it only came off once a season you'd end up with a point or two more than otherwise. At that moment, the goal difference becomes irrelevant. If you have 50 points and a -200 GD, you're still ahead of a side with 49 points and +1. Vin
I reckon the disgraceful performance against Spurs will be the wake-up call. I predict a loss, but a loss where we make United work a little bit and we can take a positive or two. ... that or a 4-0 repeat of last week, who the **** knows.
