    There is quite a few who lower the bar sadly.

    I don't know how true as not looked into it but you could buy a peer apparently.

    So if all it takes is money not something I would be chuffed about getting.

    Used to work with someone who had an mbe and he had it hid in his drawer lol. See why now.

    Probably more a modesty thing though.

    Local retained fire fighter/charity fund raiser in the village has an MBE, he didn’t want to accept but his Mrs made him for day out.

    One of the saddest things I’ve seen was a local good egg who’d been awarded an OBE back in the 80’s, and his medal and associated letters / provenance was stuck in an auction in York and went for a paltry £150. His family obviously didn’t give a ****.
