I'm not denying that but that isn't why there is such a gulf between the Man City, Chelsea, PSG, etc, and us. Clubs being funded by Arab states has taken all that to another level and then some. If they hadn't taken over Man City they'd be in exactly the same boat as us. Pretty comparable clubs in terms of size, fans base, etc, in the Premier League era up till 2008 or whatever it was when they were taken over. Would players be going for £200m if a rich Arab wasn't funding it?
I've watched it a few times. No, he didn't set himself/slipped and messed it up. Nearly scored though by accident. And Aarons may be able to pick a cross (although I'm not convinced) but he never crosses because he never gets his head up and wants to beat a team on his own. Atsu was way better when he came on.
Well, I just got home from watching (no commentary....) at a bar in Bel-Air and I have to say that it wasn't nearly as bad of a hammering as I thought it would be. Aaron's chip, Gayle's dive and Gayle's header *could* have sneaked a point for us. Granted they had chances but we've all watched them tear teams a new one all season so it could have been a whole lot worse. Maybe the commentary was so anti-Newcastle that it tainted what really wasn't that bad ?
Another team not giving a **** about FFP. Have you noticed that Sky and the Media don’t seem to talk about over spending and clubs losses anymore? It doesn’t fit their agenda. Sky whip the transfer window into a frenzy and areprobably part responsible for some of the overinflated fees on the first place with their ‘sky source’ links. This is why I laugh when Jose beels. It’s like a school bully complaining when, after years of bossing the playground....someone a wee bit harder gets transferred to he school....
Apparently PSG are scatting around for 60m to stay within the FFP and willing to sell a few players. How they work out they're only 60m under after spending all that money this summer is beyond me. If it's bogus sponsorships that help make up deficits, can't they just make another one up?
Tell ya what, if they loan us Neymar for the rest of the season for free we’ll give them the right to rename their stadium the Parc de Sports Direct and pretend that’s where the Arab money has really come from.
As dull as it was I thought Benítez got it right tactically If Newcastle had played any form of open expansive football in all likelihood we would have given them a pasting I think the only criticism I would have is the ease we played 1-2s with no one following the runner, everyone ball watching but other than that Newcastle played tight & narrow and made it very difficult Suspect you will need to spend in the window if you can rid yourselves of the fat leech as man for man it looks a very weak squad compared with other teams near the bottom and it’s touch and go if you can survive without some quality coming in. By Christ it was cold up there last night
I don’t understand anyone getting upset with Neville for his comments. It was the most negative display I’ve seen watching PL football. Certainly from us home or away. I thought Rafa got it just about right. Maybe a little too negative but he kept us in the game and nearly nicked something. What Gayle was playing at I’ll never know, that was a great chance to score.
It was more the fact he is a washed up ex manager who proved he is tactically inept..... trying to criticise the tactics of a champions league winner. Oh and I think his beloved Man Utd have been known to park the bus under Jose too.... but that gets overlooked of course.
This for me. It’s the hypocrisy and double standards which annoyed me. Can’t remember Neville giving the same level of criticism to his beloved Man U in their recent pathetic attempt against Man C where at least the 2 teams were much more financially equal than we were.
