Watford v. Swansea City Barclays Premier League Date - Saturday 30 December 2017 Kick off - 15:00 Venue - Vicarage Road, Watford Following their Boxing Day massacre at Anfield, Managerless Swansea next face Watford away. Put simply, if the Swans are to have any hope of avoiding the drop to the Championship, this is a match that they really must take something from. However, where is the defensive steel in midfield to help shore up the defence and to build attacks from? Where is the creativity in midfield to supply the attack with scoring opportunities? Where or where has it all gone wrong.....? Perhaps the best choice for Caretaker Boss, Leon Britton, is to select himself - in many people's eyes, he was the difference last season in saving us from the drop. However, you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear - this season we have an aged and largely unfit Bony rather than World Cup winner Llorente, and no Gylfi ........ Since (and including) the first meeting in 1920, Swansea and Watford have played each other on 47 occasions, with the Swans winning 21, Watford winning 16 and 10 draws. In the corresponding fixture last season, Watford won 1-0 after Swansea defender Alfie Mawson made a costly error. After an uneventful first 40 minutes, Mawson took too much time on the ball in a dangerous area and Etienne Capoue, on his return from injury, nicked the ball off the young defender and fired home at the second time of asking. Swans captain Gylfi Sigurdsson strolled through the Watford defence right at the death but gave Heurelho Gomes an easy save as the Swans side fell to their sixth straight away defeat. I think that Leon should pick himself, and play with 3 Centre Backs - aim for a point and hope for a lucky break. My heart says 1-1, my head says 3-0 to Watford. Happy New Year.....
After that whipping at Anfield, I think the writing is on the wall, placing Leon in this untenable position, just shows what scum we have in the boardroom. Our ****ty players have no fight in them, no belief and no class, I see just another defeat, cannot wait to see the backs of these players, especially Naughton, Clueless, Fer, Ayew, Mawson, Carol, utter dross the lot of them........... Easy win for Watford,
Watford are much better than us and with our apprentice calling the shots then who knows.......3 -1 Home win.....
Nothing wrong with going away with a 5 3 2 formation which we should have done in Anfield. Nordfelt (for me Fab has lost his desire and his communication and distribution is weak) Rangel .......... Fed ......... MVdH .......... Bartley (if fit) .. Olsson .............Fulton ........... Mesa ................Ki ...........Dyer ............ Abraham Fab, Mawson, Naughton, Fulton, Carroll, Sanches (contractual) Routeledge.
I know we have injury concerns but so have Watford 'Roberto Pereyra (knock), Kiko Femenia (hamstring), Troy Deeney (suspension), Will Hughes (hamstring), Miguel Britos (foot), Younes Kaboul (foot), Isaac Success (knee), Nathaniel Chalobah (knee), Craig Cathcart (knee) and Tommie Hoban (knee).' The bad news is Richarlison & Gray are oth available. The good news is we should not have lost at home. Although we need more a draw would be a welcome result.
I really hope so, they're all wired up for each game and training session so the coaches can see who's putting the effort in even without watching the lazy bastards
If you look at the two training sessions you will see the problem. In leons no direction players messing about enjoying themselves, Thats all stopped now maybe the new manager can get something out of them.
It will be interesting to see what his team selection will be today. Will he drop Ayew to make a statement?
