Hard to remember the last time Kone put a decent shift in.
He does enough and no more.

He has about four years left on his contract and is a 'high earner'.

He will be out injured for another month so there will be no time for him to impress in this window.

Nothing in the above suggests that we will get around £10mil for him in the coming weeks.
I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Although I cannot say as definite, i believe that Kone will not be here by the end of January. But there again if we are doing wishes, I pray that Rodwell will be sold as well!!!

I hope it's true that Moyes wants him, he's a mug and would pay more than Allardyce.

Hopefully he starts a ‘bidding war’ with Allardyce. Can’t wait to get shot of the ****bird.

Sold [s-old]: to part with something in return for money.

Given away [giv-enn a-way]: the only way Sunderland will part with Jack Rodwell

Taken from Oxford English Dictionary ish

Sadly there is a third scenario, one not so easily defined.
I refer to us paying off his contract.
ie. WE pay him to go. I believe that this might involve his wages till the end of his contract.

If you are ever asked for an example of a longshot that failed spectacularly, remember our acquisition of Rodwell.:steam:

He'll earn another £4m from us before his contract expires. My feeling is he'll announce his retirement that very day.

He's stealing a living. He isn't fit or capable of doing the job he's paid to and in any regular line of work he'd have been binned off

Do you know the reason a player can't be sacked I haven't a clue.

    Could be.

The club would have to prove without doubt that the player was purposely avoiding his duties.

    Impossible to prove.

Most Clubs will have had experience of a player who they wanted rid of who wouldn't move, usually because nobody else would pay him what he was currently earning.
Thomas Myhre springs to mind for us, (though we had reason to be glad about this in the end).

Don Hutchison was injured at West Ham where he was said to be on a very good contract. After recovering he was out of favour but refused every offer of a move, much to the annoyance of the club and most of their fans.

    Then there was Joey Barton.
N/C couldn't even get rid of him after he was jailed. There were even some suggestions that they had to continue paying him while he was inside.

The reason that clubs insert a relegation clause in a player's contract is to avoid situations such as we are in with Rodwell.
Why it wasn't in his must be down to an Agent who really did a good bit of work for his client.
