I am Dan, thank you...recovering well from food, drink and entertaining three small grandchildren. Oh and completing first draft of latest book! Hope you're thriving too.
You have manage to employ your usual tactics and reduce the thread to a personal insult. You just do not understand the idea of a forum where different views can be freely expressed. Please kindly point out the rules on which threads I'm obliged to contribute on, no wonder potential posters take one look at our forum then decline participation to avoid the insults.
Please kindly point out the rules on which threads I'm obliged to contribute on, no wonder potential posters take one look at our forum then decline participation to avoid the insults. Just how many potential posters do you know who have declined to participate? This sounds like something you can prove, or it is just a stab in the dark. Which is it?
Rubbish....................... As usual, and sadly, you personalise and completely miss the point. If you read carefully the last few comments are an invitation to participate more fully in the other threads as you are coming across in all honesty as a one trick pony...and it is not only me saying this... Other people are trying to improve this message board.. do you wish to? or do you see this board for Watford supporters setup for us kindly when the BBC cut the funding ..... as free licence for you to participate as you wish? All fora, real or virtual, create codes and value bases ...... do you wish to be part of that or just wish to blow your own trumpet?? As for people looking at the forum ... kindly look at the postings of myself ,and others who you choose to denigrate, you will see that we have varied and positive contributions and are always welcoming to newcomers.... When the negativity is all around one or two threads and/or one or two posters, questions are, quite rightly asked.....
It is impossible to quote those that make no contact. Below is an extract of one PM I had from somebody that lasted a couple of weeks. Can I ask why you bother with this board? You seem to be the only person who is on the "right" and all you get is abuse. Andy, Bolton, Toby, Cologne, Canary Dave, Yorkie and probably others only ever seem to post attacks on Britain and the Tories - even in their non political things like thought for the day. There were others - notably wear-yellow who seems to have given up and occasionally OFH, Leo and Aberdeen who seem less biased but 99% of comments seem to be lefty. As I say how can you put up with it? Not sure how often I will post again but no doubt I will be jumped on like I was on Castro if I continue (which I will if I want). There are lots of other boards where you get a good balanced argument. Just asking. You should be in a position to enquire why we are unable to reach a politically balanced forum.
There is no way that you can produce a politically balance forum. You might say that with extreme left and extreme right views expressed on here, with lots of views in between you have something that is approaching it, but you cannot ask a potential contributor what their political views are before you say they can comment.
who on earth is suggesting this? If you think this board is anywhere near politically balanced I find the statement incredible. Just imagine a board with only you supporting anti Brexit and Liberal views and a dominating clique posting the opposite. Would you call that 'approaching political balance?
That' ll be the Swansea or Leeds board then. I don't know why it bothers you so much. I'm one of the few on here with strong religious beliefs - I don't have any issue whatsoever with others holding the polar opposite view.
seems to come from you.....all this talk about imbalance etc...you rule the country yet you winge on about how not enough posters on here that support your triumphalism Incidentally from yougov: Generalised voting affiliations of football fans And of course the discussion has been hijacked again by your inflammatory responses. This is a FOOTBALL Forum not a politics one... the other threads are not what this forum is all about.... How come you post so little on any other thread? And then jump on here when we are discussing the issue over a glass of claret??
I was pointing out that there is no way you can get a balanced board. You suggested that it could be achieved, but I am asking how you do it.
I remember being castigated on here a long time ago by stating the obvious that football is more left wing and rugby is preferred by those on the right, generally speaking. Not rocket science. This does not explain why those with right of centre political views do not feel welcome on this board. Your postings are some of the classic reasons why they don't bother.
One of the best things you could do personally is to be fairer with your moderation duties. You seem to miss the insults when aimed at a Brexiteer or 'nasty' Tory. I have already given my reasons why I think why potential right of centre posters are put off. I do not honestly think there is the will on this forum to change anything, why should you as part of the dominating faction.
Just baloney... until we started discussion the election ... we got on fine.... I was very friednly with WY and Leo on here and BBC for years and we never discussed politics .............. As usual you want to descend the discussion into kaftans versus bowler hats or something equally besmirching.... but, read back a few posts that is NOT what we are discussing... it is about how to attract more members to make this less cliquey as you might put it and more open and developing as a message board...
These are open forums which anybody can read and answer to and it is just luck whether a thread has a left or a right wing bias - the same with Brexit. Some other clubs forums also have a bias in one way or the other but the problem is one of numbers. The more posters you have the less it matters.
We will not achieve the greater numbers we all prefer unless established posters allow those with views that are different a say. Why would any newcomers continue if they receive a barrage of abuse?
If you bother to read back, others were enquiring why we lose posters and find it hard to recruit new ones. I was putting forward a view, also expressed by others that have since left, that there is an intolerance to alternative views from the vast bulk of die hard posters. I do not have any issues with those with opposing views either, I may just oppose those views not the poster personally.
