So you are admitting that young players have improved has they got older and gained more experience. Shocker!!!!
I think he may either have some kind of mental illness or is just too scared to admit that he was wrong (God knows why). Bryan is being linked to clubs like Everton, so not unreasonable to think his transfer value could reach many, many millions of pounds, but because RR didn't think he would get any better, he said get rid, ergo, missing out on him/those many, many millions. Thankfully the club, as well as probably the majority of fans, appreciated his efforts at the time and believed he had great potential (i.e. was worth keeping). Bobby Reid is a bigger surprise. I was happy with his progress and thought he should stay as a member of the squad because having options to call upon due to injuries/suspensions/fatigue is something all successful clubs need, but didn't foresee him having as big an impact as he has. Now the boot's on the other foot and he's waiting before signing his next contract, RR will probably criticise him for not signing it, even though he wanted to show him the door! If RR had his way, every season we would spend £20m+ on 'established' players over 30 (including many unrealistic targets, unlikely to come here at all), ship them out when they weren't good enough (so probably two-three years later at a pittance/at end of their contracts) and do the same thing all over again. I give credit to RR for his enthusiasm this season in contrast to before, but the success the club is enjoying is through making choices almost entirely opposite to what he insisted needed to happen. His refusal to admit that is what grinds with me.
I don't know - I've been here a while now and haven't done so yet! Like I said though, I do like that he's actually enthusiastic this year - fair play for saying we'd beat Man Utd 2-1! Hope he put some money on it...
I like RR, I always have, he winds people up, he expresses his own opinions consistently like the wind blowing leaves but they are interesting and never harm anybody, he also gets the debate going, he might piss some people off but that his not his intent, if he does it's hard ****, we all do it sometimes. I say keep going RR, Bristol City is a broad church.
Nothing wrong with having an opinion at all, provided you stand by what you said at the time, are able to admit when you got it wrong (like when I said LJ should've gone after Cardiff last season) and be open to having it changed by reasonable debate/new information.
Hey Nick i stand by what i said, not sure what you don't understand, yes i wanted LJ gone, any manager would have got the bullet, however he was given the time and it has worked out. I have no issue with him at present,he is earning his very handsome salary. Bryan, and Reid, have been a revelation this season, previous years definitely not.I am happy to say this. What makes me laugh players do well for a season then fans think they are the real deal. Two or Three consistent seasons, then they earn that right to that in my opinion.
I appreciate the value of loan players but is it the way to build for the future? We have had many top drawer loanees come our way and move on to better things, and although some of them became somewhat saviours, I still prefer signed players but then again that comes with the added distraction of draining the old bank account. Our current injury list showing when certain players will return is always a difficult situation because the last thing you need to do is bring them back before they are ready. Are there some walking wounded that may never play for City again, and if there are then what do we do with them? Some serious decisions to be made, not just for the run-in but possibly the next 2-3 years, and we need to trust the management team to get it right if we want to be where we say.
The poster in question also wanted to shut the academy. That is a even more difficult position to defend.
