That has never happened and never will, because fans have different aspirations, as was evident even before this news broke, when we talked on here about the type of new owners we'd like. Don't see a problem in showing up fans who clearly put 'what's in it for me', before what's best for Charlton. As FHB quite rightly points out, the keyboard warriors are only a tiny minority, ultimately crowds coming back to The Valley will show if we're going the right way.
I must admit my own experience of rivalry among Charlton fans' forums is very limited because I only joined my first forum (ITTV) in September 2015. I have no knowledge of how things were on the Charlton forums before the Duchatelet era. Though I have gathered that some differences between prominent online Charlton supporters go back a decade or more and often with understandable reasons, I am not one of those people myself. Once Charlton has a new controlling owner (even if RD retains some assets or minority interest), for me, the only reason for my opposition to the opinions of other Charlton fans will be ended. Pro-Duchatelet, anti-Duchatelet will be points of view regarding matters of the past. Of course they will still resonate for an unknown length of time, but I believe that once it comes, the Future will matter infinitely more. I know I have got annoyed in the past regarding some of the stick I have received because of my opinions, but none of it has offended me in a manner too grave to put behind me. In the same sprit, I would hope that other Charlton fans would be willing to forgive offence I may have given them by the things I have posted. If some choose not to do so, then so be it. I take full responsibility for eveything I have posted in the past. But I hope many will feel the same as I do, and be willing to put the past behind us and go forward together supporting our Club.
The point I am obviously failing to make is there are far too many with their own personal ambitions and agendas and the divisions will hold the club back. Whether it be RM/ RE/PM/RD/SP or anyone else the personal animosity and naked ambition of their vested self interest groups is not typical at most clubs. IF RD has gone it has to be time to back the new owner and stop the positioning for power it aint worked since the days of Powell and it never will..
I don't think they are important enough to do that. If the club is properly run we will be successful. I doubt if many of the fans have even heard of Rick, or Ben, or Paul, or Nick, or Fanny even. Any internet warrior who takes him or herself seriously is silly. I enjoy reading a cross-section of views anyway, what would be the point of everyone agreeing?
I agree. I like to read the coming and goings on and it is easier seeing at a club other than my own. But it does sometimes look like a dads army script. KM leaves RD is going and the first move here is to attack Reams and RM. No matter what they have done it is time to celebrate the passing of the regime most sy they despise.
Who knows when Roland will actually depart? He's negotiating with various parties is what he's told us, but I was told that at the beginning of the season. My guess has always been for a summer sale, when he'll throw in the towel rather than face a new season. The monkey has gone, the organ grinder remains. And if Richard Murray is handling players' contracts that's not too much of an improvement.
I always suspected he would sell it as quickly as he purchased it but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m with Billy and think the sale will come at seasons end, but whether that suits the buying party is anybody’s guess.
With the squirrel out on her bottom I am certain the sale is almost signed and sealed. The general opinion on Charlton Life is that the financial year in Belgium ends on the 31/12 and is relevant to the timing of this announcement.
In Brasilia waiting for the flight to Rio, beach in four hours. F*** holidays when we have news like this. Feliz anovo!
I'm inclined to agree with Elf, I think the take-over will be announced within a week or so. Not that I know anything at all. Just a feeling, and of course wishful thinking. The announcement that KM was leaving came out of the blue, nobody seemed to have a clue that was coming. I think it will be the same when it comes to the Club.
Finance Director David Joyes has resigned today. So we are going into a crucial transfer window with no CEO or Finance Director ..
I don't know how well David Joyes was doing his job, but I would rather we had no CEO than the one who has just quit. There is no negative angle to Katrien Meire's resignation. Her departure to 100% good for Charlton Athletic.
She was nothing more than Duchatelet's lapdog anyway. He called the shots, and whilst the takeover news was great, I haven't got past the nightmare that Duchatelet will still have his claw in us someway. Hope I'm wrong.
