Just sad all round. No winners here apart from, arguably, his bank manager.

Unfortunately my lasting memory of Caulker is away at Hull in the PL. One of the few away games I've been to. Instead of heading the ball out for a corner, he put right over the penalty spot for their man to volley home. Barton have him a 'what the flock' was that message!
At least I think that's right.

My memory of Caulker will always be that own goal he scored in the school end against Liverpool after Vargas had brought us level at 2-2. I was in the school end with my kids and it all kicked off when the Liverpool fans in front of us celebrated. Not the last time he shafted us.

Perhaps the calculation is down to his agent as well? This is the problem with our society. It is apparently never the individuals fault but rather evil, of any sort, is the product of the fact that the perpetrator is a victim of others. I don't buy this disability malarkey. For a start alcoholism or drug dependency is not a disability in law precisely because it is self-inflicted. We are not (yet) in a nanny state where people are immune from the consequences of their own behaviour.

A large proportion of the population struggle on through adversity and do what is right for their families, their employers and their fans.

Don’t people have to work hard to become addicted to something?

Also, in the main, for all who free themselves of their ‘addiction’, irrespective of whatever assistance, support or substitute substance they are given, am I correct in thinking that their own will and desire to beat the dependency figures large in any process?

It would take someone far more intelligent and coherent in these matters to explain in writing ( and someone with a lot more time), but it’s a fact from most mental health professionals, that addiction IS a mental illness.

How do they prove it to be a fact? Not looking to be confrontational, just interested.

Didn’t take to him as a person or player

Not the right sort for the current QPR

Good luck but he has disaster written all over his life imo. I expect the next we will hear could be a incident associated with drink etc

I don't think transfer deadline days are filled with players, post medical, reclining on a leather sofa talking about their childhoods. I think Caulker's problems didn't surface very early and we were getting an England international in his early 20s.

I wouldn't call him calculating or manipulative but understand the frustration that we've bankrolled his personal journey.

Good riddance and about bloody time.
But don't be fooled to believe he would leave on mutual consent unless he has someone else desperate to part with their money lined up. His shark agent cynically playing the januar marked.
Can't even bring me to wish him luck.
