Remember the old days when just before the start of games you would see both goalkeepers raking their studs on the six yard line and in line with the goalposts, to create a marker ?
This was to help them get their angles right. These days you can't do this so you need to rely on your instinct, and what you've been coached on defending your near post. In reality a keeper also has "landmarks" within the stadium which he depends on.
I would suggest that if you're a keeper who relies on these off pitch landmarks, then a new stadium such as Wembley will present difficulties. There are no easy markers like a pillar in the East stand at WHL to help Lloris with his angles, any ones at Wembley are twice the distance away and less reliable.
Yes, defending his near post is weakness in Lloris's game, but I suspect like other members of our squad, he's still getting to grips with playing at a different stadium.

Interesting to hear this sort of perspective. Didn't really consider it.
I wonder if that's contributed to Joe Hart being crap for West Ham?

He doesn't really seem to do anything... captainy, if you know what I mean.
I don't think it's changed his game, though it could've had a mental effect, I suppose.

Never really been a fan of keepers as captains, to be honest. Central defenders and midfielders, for me.
Better view of the game than other outfield players, in a position to bark orders about and you can't just run away from them! <laugh>

    Fair enough.

But that doesn’t explain his panicky distribution at times. He just seems to lose his cool.

My gut feeling is that Kane will be getting the armband next season.
Not a CB or CM but tbh can't see any of our outfield players doing the job more effectively. He has the respect if not adulation of the entire squad, has captained England, gives 100% and generally leads by example. Similar qualities to Sissoko really, other than the england bit.
