My new years resolution is to stop falling asleep on the sofa and waking up in a state of frozen panic.

Woke up an hour ago fully clothed and ****ing freezing. Bitch of a Mrs could at least put a ****ing blanket over me <steam>

Bitch don't love you....in general they love themselves. Watch when she wants a cuddle....she will play the game...that's when you drop this on her...let her ponder.

I hope to be able to enjoy it, 2017 flew past and I spent all of it working away.

My own Dad had a spell in hospital and also succumbed further to dementia and my dad in law at the very same time had a problem which led to hospitalisation and he's still in there.

The last four months were dominated by all this.

I'm still away for the first five or six months of 2018 but after that I want to be closer to home and the kids, spend some good times away in the van and get my handicap to seven while actually using my golf course. In other words, play more than once a fortnight.

Gonna give adult swimming lessons for extortionate fees as a sideline... <whistle>

... hoping for a better year on the health front both personally and for the wider family. 2017 was pretty traumatic for the missus ... first she had all my **** to cope with and we are now waiting for her mum to have a brain op for a double aneurysm one of which has a bleed within it ... currently waiting for steroids to reduce swelling so that the op can go ahead ... not sure how my missus has coped with it all...but she's a Welsh gal and made of strong stuff <ok>

  9. Should really cut down on hours I work next year - but rather suspect they'll increase if anything. I hate to say roll on March 2019 as I am still dead against it whilst accepting it will happen but from a work life balance perspective it cannot come quickly enough!

Have signed up to do the London to Brighton walk in May 2018 so will get busy training for that so as to try and keep reasonably fit in body and mind <whistle>.

  13. You are supposed to do it in 24 hours. Have done the Thames Path and London to Cambridge before but this is the prestigious one due to the hills etc. Once I get started on the training I will love it - but the "once I get started" bit is the biggest challenge!

A mate of mine did the Brighton walk a couple of years ago (I think it's the same one you're talking about) and even though you're only walking still managed to get major blisters.
I guess you need to treat it like a long distance run for training purposes and make sure you have decent "running" footwear.

I used to do mega long distance running. Im ****ing **** at sprinting, it's a case of switching off and keep going. 60 miles is a helluva treck in a day like. Supplement your drinks and take a loads.

    what about footwear?
